I found Shaquita one cold, rainy night in the
middle of a busy road. She obviously had been following someone and
gotten lost. I blew the horn to alert the oncoming traffic of her
presence and she ran straight to my van. I opened the door and said
"No! I wasn't calling you!", and she jumped right in. I drove to the
nearest house, opened the door and chased her into the yard. As I was
driving away, I looked in the rearview mirror, and there she
was........running down the road after me. I found two boys on
bicycles and asked if they knew who she belonged to. They said no but
she'd been chasing cars up and down the road, and had chased them
too. I couldn't talk them into taking her home, so she came home with
me. I explained to Ed, (my husband) that this was just temporary
until I could find her owners. He gave me that "yeah....right" look.
I really did put an ad in the paper, and a sign on a lightpole. That
was about three years ago. I'm still waiting for her rightful owner
to call.
(yeah, right!)
