Green Up Day 2000
Hinesburg, Vermont
Hinesburg celebrated the 30th anniversary of Green Up Day on May 6, 2000, by spending the
day cleaning up their town. Coordinated by Phil Pouech of Hinesburg, about 150 people (some
organized into groups, some operating individually) donated their time and energy. Some of the
groups that worked on Green Up Day 2000 included the Hinesburg
Conservation Commission, Lions Club, Boys Scouts, 4-H and local church youth groups.
Some of their projects included:
Cleaning the small dam in downtown Hinesburg
Planting flower boxes on the Town Garage
Planting trees in the Hinesburg Cemetary
Planting trees along Charlotte Road
Gathering roadside debris and hauling it to the landfill
