Chairman Ted White called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. The minutes from the meeting of November 13, 2000 were read and approved. In the discussion of the minutes, there was considerable additional discussion about the MTBE contamination of the Saputo Foods well. Saputo Foods has requested to be attached to municipal water, but no decision has been made. Such a connection would possibly require the expansion of the town water system to include the Geprags Park well, which is anticipated to feed the proposed Geprags Pond. No decisions or consensus was reached on the Conservation Commission's stance on this issue, pending further information this winter.

Communications included a brochure on purple loosestrife. Ted White may put together a campaign in February or March for purple loosestrife eradication in Hinesburg.

Regarding the LaPlatte River riparian study, Nancy Plunkett said she talked to Jim Pease and he is reviewing the data collected by the Conservation Commission. He and Nancy (and possibly others) plan to walk the worst areas on either December 4 or December 6 to determine what, if anything, can be done to help those areas.

Under the lead of Martin Peterson, the HCC reviewed the Smart Growth Scorecard published by the Orton Institute. The HCC worked primarily on those issues that directly affect the HCC and found that, in all instances, Hinesburg scored "In Transition" (as opposed to "Smart Growth" or "Needs Your Attention"). More study will be done by individual members. As homework, it was suggested that each member read the town plan in preparation for making suggestions to changing parts of it in the March town meeting. HCC members were given copies of the current Subdivision Regulations (amended 10/6/97) and the Zoning Bylaws (amended 6/3/96).

The next meeting is Monday, December 11. There will be no meeting on December 25. Ted White adjourned the meeting at 8:45 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Martin Peterson
