Chairman Ted White called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. The minutes from the meeting of November 27, 2000 were read and approved. Communications included a competitive grants announcement from the Vermont Urban and Community Forest Program for 2001. Ted White suggested a "Biggest Tree Contest" for Hinesburg, with different categories for different species.
The review of the Town Plan was postponed until the January 8 meeting.
Regarding Geprags Park, Ted White recommended that a preservative be put on the barn and bridge. Nancy Baker will write an article for the Hinesburg Record on the barn. The article says that there is no more construction planned for the barn and that the HCC is looking for photos and artifacts to display in the barn. Martin Peterson now has a hand-held GPS (global positioning system) and offered to produce a map of the trails of Geprags Park in the spring.
Nancy Plunkett reported on a meeting that she had with Bill Marks (HCC), Eric Derleth (U.S. Fish and Wildlife), Jim Pease (VT ANR), and Mike Fournier (USDA) on December 6. The USDA has a number of programs that provide funding for types of projects that we are pursuing. The funding programs include CRP, CREP and a wetlands program. Money is available for tree planting. They are suggesting that we start with a 1000' piece along the LaPlatte River for our first funding proposal.
Treasurer Sarah Blythe reported that Tom Perry has billed HCC for $2,146 for the work on the barn. HCC approved payment unanimously. The barn fund balance was $3,805 before the payment is to be made.
Faith Ingulsrud told us that the Hinesburg Planning Commission has been having work sessions. An All-Board Meeting is scheduled for January 9.
The next meeting is Monday, January 8. There will be no meeting on December 25. Ted White adjourned the meeting at 8:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Martin Peterson
