Despite the unlucky date (Friday 13th), our trip got off to a fairly smooth start compared to usual Fellwanderer style. The journey was broken up by several rather unnecessary food stops but we arrived at our lovely campsite near St. David's in fairly good time and enjoyed a few beers. The morning brought us a beautiful view down to the sea and glorious summer sunshine. We set off along the coastal path south towards Whitesands Bay. The cliffs and coves were idyllic and in the heat we had to stop often to soak up the sunshine, admire the view, and reapply sun cream. We arrived at Whitesands for lunch. Taffy and Sam in a moment of insanity went for a swim, but it was a little cold for rest of us, so we played Frisbee (badly) and built sandcastles instead. As is tradition on our annual beach trip we had a beach BBQ on Saturday night. We chose Abberieddi Bay for the occasion which was particularly scenic with its seaside fort and lovely sunset. The watermelon, sausages, steaks and of course Marshmallows all slipped down nicely with a few beers. Sunday morning was yet again beautiful. We packed up camp and headed off to the lovely bay of Caerfai. From here we set off on the coastal path west towards Ramsey Island. As we walked a bank of sea fog rolled in which sort of engulfed the view, but gave us some nice relief from the sun. We had lunch at the lifeboat station before heading back through St Davids to the beach at Caerfai. Beccy and I ventured into the sea at Caerfai while the engineers of the group stole some poor kids water in order to build an extensive dam system. A nice Sunday dinner was enjoyed at the Crown and Horns on the way home.
