![]() | The Yorkshire dales, a land where sunshine is both a blessing and a curse. In the morning it was completely freezing (literally) and I was thrilled to have just purchased a fleece sleeping bag liner which now drops the rating of my sleeping bag to well below zero degrees Celsius. In the afternoons when the sun came out the warmth was appreciated for only about an hour. Why you might ask? Well, bogs are easy to cross when frozen, when they thaw are horrible to cross. This is particularly true when you THINK a bog is frozen and are proven wrong when halfway across - yes, I speak from experience. |
Ruins like this are scattered all over the countryside. There are fences made of thousands of stones which run miles through the countryside, I can only imagine the work this must have taken. | ![]() |

Fearless Leader and I were the first to climb down to these falls. The stratigraphy in this area was striking (10 points for those that catch the pun that slipped in here, 20 for those that catch both). Gary Vermeij and Don Sumner would be proud. | ![]() |

This was taken on Saturday when the weather was the nicest I have ever seen in the UK. This was a great trip. | ![]() |
