Tomoyo is the only daughter of a Toy Company executive, Amamiya Sonomi. She is gifted with the sweetest voice and the ability to sing beautifully. She is also gifted with talents of designing and making battle customs for Sakura. She fully employs these gifts during Sakura's time as a cardcaptor. Tomoyo is not only extremely kind and gentle by nature, but sweet and caring to everyone. She dearly loves Sakura, but she never shows her emotions. Because she knows that Sakura doesn't love her back the same way, Tomoyo just watches Sakura from distance, caring for her and giving her all help that she can provide for her. Tomoyo's selfless way of love is one of her most distinct qualities. Even though it must hurt her deeply inside as she watches Sakura going after Yukito, she doesn't hesitate to help her be together with Yukito. Later, when she realizes that Shaoran loves Sakura and Yukito has no intention of being Sakura's most beloved person, she gives Shaoran her full support to be together with Sakura. Even though she loves Sakura so much. Even though it's hurting her so much to watch Sakura love someone else, to watch her never glance her way, to watch her being happy with someone that is not herself.... Sakura's happiness itself is more than enough to sooth her pain, Sakura's happiness can make her happy, too... Tomoyo was a lonely child. Even though outside she seems mature and dependable, inside she's fragile and weak. Ever since she was young, her mother was always away, woking in her company. In the huge mansion all by herself, Tomoyo acted like a good, kind child. But her heart ached for more companion, someone who'll give her a true smile and attention. And she found her. Sakura. But Sakura couldn't love her the same way she can love her. Tomoyo understands that. And she satisfies herself by taking care of Sakura.... by dressing her up, by making her cookies, by always being there for her. And through all that, she knows Sakura will be hurt if she expresses her emotions, so she doesn't say a single thing. She deeply believes in Sakura, and even if she herself is in danger, she doesn't mind as long as she can be with Sakura. And of course, our dense cherry blossom have no idea about Tomoyo's feelings for her. Something else interesting.... she always seems to use the formal form. Like when other children just end by saying "ohayo", she adds in "gozaimasu" at the end. Some people pairs Tomoyo up with Eriol, but this is a mismatch as Eriol is same age as Fujitaka. Terada and Rika work fine, but Eriol already has a girlfriend and as neither side really shows much interest in each other, this pairing probably won't work out(despite the fact that it's a very cute idea.). Now, Tomoyo and Meiling.... ^_^ Wing's thoughts on the name: Strangely, her name has NOTHING to do with nature. She's an oddball... but "big road" and "temple" brings trees and animals together, ne? So she brings Sakura and Shaoran together... Just imagine, a big temple with Sakura blossoms and a lonely little wolf cub sitting under the tree.... ^_^ She's also very knowledgeable about "worldly" things, like crushes and things like that. But I still think her name should've been name of some really delicate flower... ^_^ Sara-sama's thoughts: "Tomo" can mean "friend", and "yo" is a verbal exclamation point. Thus her frequent use of respective form may be explained... You know how she is. |
