He comments that the summer is almost over. <Someone lands on top of the Moon Temple...> Kero comments that they have so mcuh free time now that all the cards have been captured. Sakura is writing a reply to Mizuki-sensei. Kero asks her how the techer is doing. Sakura says she's doing fine and that she's studhing hard. <A lion-like creature also lands.> Kero says he's happy that she's well since she helped Sakura become the new mistress of the cards.  He proclaims that he would not have survived if that brat became the card master. Sakura protests, saying that Li-kun tried hard, too. They discuss about Shaoran returning to Hong Kong soon. <A person with butterfly wings also silently lands> Kero says that he's bored since he has so much free time. Sakura replies that she has to go to school tomorrow, so she's not having free time. She packs her bookbag and discovers in th eprocess that all of her summer homeworks are gone. <A dark shadow looms over Sakura's home> Sakura panics, than tries to calm herself by saying everything is okay.  However, she falls off her chair. She gets up and asks Kero for help. Kero protests that the last time he helped Sakura with her homework, she got mad at him. Sakura says it's different now, then remembers that she's the monitor for the next day and REALLY panics. <A young boy with dark hair and glasses is looking at Sakura's house with a smile on his face...>
<Title Screen: Sakura and the Mysterious Transferred Student!>
Sakura says hi to Touya, than to her mother's picture. Sakura chokes down a toast. She exchange good-mornings with her father. He wishes her luck with her 2nd semester of 5th grade. Kero watches Sakura leaving the house from Sakura's bedroom window, than gloomily denounces math as his least favorite thing.
Sakura wonders who's her monitoring partner that morning, but before she has much time to consider this matter she meets Yukito. Yukito is back from early shopping for breakfast. He says he's always hungry one of these days. Sakura says that eating a lot is a sign of good health. Sakura says bye to him and skates away, thinking about Yue and Yukito being his false form. However, Yukito throws a candy to Sakura and Sakura happily decides that Yukito-san is Yukito-san after all.
Sakura enters room 5-2. Thinking that no one is there, she starts to sing "on duty, on duty" very cutely. Shaoran, who was standing next tot the blackboard, coughs loudly to get her attention. Sakura and Shaoran both blushes. Shaoran furiously erases the blackboard to cover up his embarassment.
Sakura and Shaoran have a short conversation about what they did during the summer (in which Sakura finds out that Shaoran did absolutely nothing).  Then they discuss about Shaoran going back home to Hong Kong.  Shaoran says he has to go and tell his mother about the Clow Cards' new mistress. Sakura stops walking, very depressed that Shaoran is leaving her. Shaoran, very embarassed, says he's not leaving forever and that he's going to come back. Sakura, reassured, happily resumes walking down the hallway with him.
Sakura and Tomoyo exchange good mornings. Tomoyo looks sad, and Sakura asks her what's wrong. Tomoyo says that now that all the cards have been captured, there isn't much opportunity for her to dress Sakura up in her battle customs. Tomoyo goes into her hyper mode, syaing it'll be so wonderful if she can dress Sakura up and video-tape her. Before Sakura can develop a proper sweat bead, her classmates enter. The girls talk about Mizuki-sensei and how she wrote reply to their letters. They find out that their new semester's homeroom teacher is Terada-sensei. Rika looks happy. Terada introduces a new student. It turns out to be a cute black-haired and black-eyed boy with eye glasses. Saskura thinks that he look gentle. The boy glances upon  her...not Shaoran's I-will-murder-you stare, but a gentle gaze.  He turns out to be Hiiragizawa Eriol-kun from England. The empty seat next to Shaoran gets assigned to him. Shaoran gains his I-will-kill-you look again. Eriol stops on his way to his seat and says hello to Sakura. Sakura feels as if she met him before.... Shaoran starts to look more and more like how Touya looks when Shaoran gets too close to Skura.
Sakura writes about Eriol in her letter to Mizuki and says out loud that she feels as if she had met him before. Eriol pops out of no where and says he feels the same way. Sakura, shocked, screams out "Hii, Hiiragizawa-kun!". Eriol quickly apologizes for scaring her and asks if he may seat on the seat next to her. Eriol says that they might have met before in their previous lives. He asks Sakura if he may call her Sakura-san, and that she may call him Eriol-kun. (Shaoran still is on last-name terms with Sakura. Smooth move, Eriol! XD )  From distance, Tomoyo video-tapes this scene and says this looks like a promising development of a shoujo manga. Shaoran's eyes starts to look like Ghost(Ghastly)'s eyes.
In his fierce anger against the new rival, Shaoran walks ahead very awkwardly as if his legs are in pain. Sakura asks Shaoran if anything is bothering him, and tells him that he should tell her if there is anything that she can do to help him, as she received so much help from him when she was capturing the cards. She becomes sad, realizing that Li-kun will go back to Hong Kong soon, but Shaoran cuts in and says he won't go yet. He blushes and says that he'll postpone it. Sakura becomes very happy, and decides to treat them to ice cream. Left to themselves, Tomoyo remarks, "Because of the new rival." Shaoran furiously protests.
Sakura returns with the ice cream, but gets hers snatched away by Touya. Yukito scolds Touya and promises Sakura another one, to which Sakura hastly says it's okay. Touya looks around his surroundings with caution and atmosphere of foreboding, as if something dangerious and unpleasant will pop out any second. His fear becomes a reality when a cute girl jumps on him and says hi to him. Her eyes meet with Yukito's and she gives a smug smile to Yukito. Yukito answers with his own sweet smile. She notices Sakura and rubs her cheek with her own, squealing about how cute she is. She introduces herself as "Akizuki Nakuru". She takes Touya's ice cream and runs off. She stops and thanks Touya for the ice cream, hanging from a light pole. (Don't ask...) It starts to rain and Touya remembers the laundry.
Sakura is doing the laundry while Touya goes out for the part-time job. Kero plays video game while Sakura and he discusses the transferred student. He akss what kind of kanji is used to spell the name "Eriol". Sakura says that his name is "E-ri-o-ru-kun", written in katakana as he came from England. Kero loses the game and asks distressfully what kind of kanji is making up a bizarre name like Eriol. Sakura gives up. The weather report is on, and they talk about the rain. Suddenly the drawer starts to glow. "In that drawer..." They both cry out, "Kurou Kado no hon! (Clow Card book)"  Sakura takes the book out, and suddenly her room fades out and gets replaced by an empty space with stars. "Kero-chan?" Sakura asks uncertainly. The book glows brilliantly. Clow's image flashes by, then a kindly voice says, "I may be 'troubling' you from now on, but if it's Sakura, I'm sure 'everything will turn out fine'." Sakura get sout of the trance and talks about Clow's voice that she heard with Kero. They notice that the book of Clow Cards now hace the name "SAKURA" and has a picture of star with wings. It also has a sun underneath. Eriol's face flashes by, and they both sense an aura.
The reporter declares that it will only rain in Tomoeda. "As expected, this ain't a normal rain," Kero-chan says, worried. Sakura shows up in  a rain-coat like custom. Embarassed, she asks Tomoyo why she has to dress up like this. Tomoyo declares that this abnormal rain is surely the sign of reappearance of "Cardcaptor Sakura", and goes into her hyper mode. Kero's upset. "But all the cards have been gathered..." A face of a person in shadow flashes by, then the rain gathers in a whirlpool. The whirlpool from the sky attacks Sakura. Kero becomes Cerberus and as Sakura commanded protects Tomoyo while Sakura runs around the playground, avoiding getting killed by the tidal from the whirlpool. Cerberus tells her that she must use the cards. Sakura attempts to release the key of Clow, but it wouldn't work. Sakura desperately cries out "Release!" quite a few times, but it just won't work. Water rushes down and Cerberus barely manages to grab her out of the way. He asks Sakura if she's all right, but stops as he senses a familiar aura....  Tomoyo asks Sakura if she's all right. Cerberus tells Sakura to bring the Snow Rabbit home tomorrow. Sakura and Tomoyo asks him why he'd want to see Yukito/Tsukishiro-san, and Cerberus says that he wants to talk to Yue. He wants to figure out why the key would not convert to the staff-stange and he wants to discuss this aura of....
