The Bema Judgment

The Greek word "Bema" means "Judgment Seat".

During the ancient Greek Olympics, the judge of the contest sat on an elevated seat. After the contest was over the competitors came before him to receive their rewards. This was not a judicial bench to determine if someone was condemned; it was a reward seat.

No unbelievers will take part in this judgment. This is for believers only.

2 Corinthians 5:10 "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of (Y'shua) Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." (KJV)

We, believers in Y'shua, will have to stand before Y'shua to give account of our selves. This has nothing to do with our entrance into heaven. We receive rewards based on how we have lived our lives for Him after we became believers. (See 1 Corinthians 3)

The Bible tells us of 5 Crowns believers can earn with G-d's help:

1) The incorruptible crown - Given to those who master the old nature. (1 Corinthians 9:25-27)

2) The crown of rejoicing - given to soul winners. (Proverbs. 11:30; Daniel 12:3; 1 Thessalonians 2:19,20)

3) The crown of life - given to those who successfully endure temptation. Also known as the Martyrs Crown. (James. 1:2, Rev. 2:10)

4) The crown of righteousness - given to those who especially love the doctrine of the rapture and Y'shua's return. Of course, this righteousness is not our own, but G-d's credited to us. (2 Tim 4:8)

5) The crown of glory - given to faithful preachers and teachers. (Acts 20:26-28; 2 Tim. 4:1,2; 1 Peter 5:2-4)

(Wilmington Guide to the Bible, pg. 829)

Sadly not everyone will receive a crown and some will suffer loss. "If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss. (1 Corinthians 3:15)

Y'shua tells us in

Revelation 22:12 - And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. (KJV)

What will we do with these crowns? The crowns of the church are laid at G-d's feet as an act of submission and worship. (Rev. 4:10)

The only one worthy of wearing a crown is G-d or Y'shua.
