Yechezk'el 18:21-23 "But if the wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed and observes all My statutes and practices justice and righteousness, he shall surely live; he shall not die. "All his transgressions which he has committed will not be remembered against him; because of his righteousness which he has practiced, he will live. "Do I have any pleasure in the death of the wicked," declares the L-rd G-D, "rather than that he should turn from his ways and live?
The L-rd G-d is not an ogre that wants to destroy mankind. He loves mankind and does not enjoy when they perish in their sin. The same can be said of the L-rd when it comes to being patient to those that do not trust in His Son.
2 Peter 3:9-10 The L-rd is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to teshiva (repentance).
Yechezk'el 18:24 "But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that a wicked man does, will he live? All his righteous deeds which he has done will not be remembered for his treachery which he has committed and his sin which he has committed; for them he will die.
In the balance of good and evil when it comes to eternal judgment the standard is perfection and we all fall short. It doesn't matter what small sin it may be it will be remembered. Will you stand before the L-rd G-d on you own merit and live?
Yesha'yahu (Isaiah) 64:6 But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf,And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
Only what the Messiah did will stop the wrath of G-d for eternal life.
Romans 5:8-11 But G-d demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Messiah died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of G-d through Him. For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to G-d through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only this, but we also exult in G-d through our L-rd Yeshua HaMashiach, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
Yechezk'el 18:25-26 "Yet you say, 'The way of the Lord is not right.' Hear now, O house of Israel! Is My way not right? Is it not your ways that are not right? "When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity, and dies because of it, for his iniquity which he has committed he will die. "Again, when a wicked man turns away from his wickedness which he has committed and practices justice and righteousness, he will save his life.
They were blaming G-d for the state they were in and not looking at their own sinful condition.
The mercy of G-d is patient and still waits for repentance even to the last minute.
Yechezk'el 18:28-29 "Because he considered and turned away from all his transgressions which he had committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die. "But the house of Israel says, 'The way of the L-rd is not right.' Are My ways not right, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are not right?
What about the judgment of the L-rd G-d to eternal life? Is the way of Yshua right for all?
Romans 9:17-24 For the scripture says to Pharaoh, "I have raised you up for the very purpose of showing my power in you, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth." So then he has mercy upon whomever he wills, and he hardens the heart of whomever he wills. You will say to me then, "Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?" But who are you, a man, to answer back to G-d? Will what is molded say to its molder, "Why have you made me thus?" Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel forbeauty and another for menial use? What if G-d, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience the vessels of wrath made for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for the vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory, even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?
Yechezk'el 18:30-32 "Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, each according to his conduct," declares the L-rd G-D. "Repent and turn away from all your transgressions, so that iniquity may not become a stumbling block to you. "Cast away from you all your transgressions which you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! For why will you die, O house of Israel? "For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies," declares the L-rd G-D. "Therefore, repent and live."
We know that it does not happen and therefore there are consequences. We also know Israel as a nation will not turn from not believing in the Son until He returns. There are individual consequences for each individual person regardless of what the earlier generation believed.
