Is the Law abolished?
Torah has not been abolished. The Torah is good. And we are still to read and study the Torah. The Torah contains much wisdom. Now the law, pertaining to the laws of Moses (Mosaic) was given to govern Israel. The law of sacrifice also remains, the only difference being that Yeshua is the sacrifice. At the time when the Passover lambs were being slaughtered, He gave Himself up willingly for our atonement. I believe He died for my atonement. I, a sinner, will accept blame for His death.
In a sense, all believers in Yeshua the Messiah, are to blame. He came to atone for our sins.
He came and was rejected just like Joseph (Yosef) was rejected by His brothers.
What did Joseph(Yosef) also say in Genesis 50:19 You intended to harm me, but G-d intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. And He said He gave His live willingly.
John 10:17-18 "For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. "No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father." (NAS)
So, I am glad that our Jewish Messiah gave up His live for us to save us.
We must then ask Him for forgiveness of our sins and accept His blood as payment (atonement) for our sins. His righteous is then given to us. All of our sins are paid in full, past present, and future. His grace is sufficient to pay the full price!
Rom 3:25-26 Whom G-d has set forth to be a propitiation(satisfaction) through faith in his blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of G-d;
1 John 4:10 Here is love, not that we loved G-d, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation (satisfaction) for our sins.
The law is a good outline. The law is not for you if you're a New Creation. It was used by the L-rd to convict us of our hopeless state. Now that the law has served its purpose for you, you are no longer under it. But if one chooses to stay under it and act like our walk with G-d is a set of rules that we have to or we must follow, then we walk from under His grace and are walking in the flesh. And we are not of the flesh we are of the Spirit.
2 Cor 5:14-19 For the love of Messiah (Christ) controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, that they who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf. Therefore from now on we recognize no man according to the flesh; even though we have known Messiah (Christ) according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. Therefore if any man is in Messiah (Christ), he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from G-d, who reconciled us to Himself through Messiah (Christ), and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that G-d was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. (NAS)
And if I am a new creation whom out of love for him want to follow Him and please Him and His ways are good then I am truly entering His rest. And the Spirit will make it easy and a delight to follow Him. We surrender ourselves to His power to overcome through the Spirit.
Come to me, all you that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. (He is our Sabbath) Take my yoke on you and learn about me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you will find rest for your souls. (Matt. 11:28)
The Holy Spirit makes us new in Christ (Anointed /Messiah).
But now we are discharged from the law, dead to that which held us captive, so that we serve not under the old written code but in the new life of the Spirit(Rom 7:6).
Gal 5:22-26 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness(trusting), gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law(instruction). Now those who belong to YeshuaHa Mashiach (Christ Jesus) have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another. NAS
Does this mean I deliberately sin to receive more mercy, NO!
The commandments of the New Covenant are to be the guide for those in the body of Messiah. The Law is binding on those whom have not become a new creation. But to those that are new, in our new life we now focus on Him.
Col 3:1-3 If you then be risen with Christ (Anointed/ Messiah), seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of G-d. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in G-d.
1 Tim 1:8-9 8 But we know that the Law (instruction) is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law (instruction)is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers NAS
But if you do not trust His Word let us not argue about the law for this is not love.
Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. KJV
May Ruach HaKodesh guide you in this truth:
John 16:13-14 "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. NAS
The Abrahamic covenant created the nation of Israel and is still active.
