Matthew Chapter 12 (Continued)

Matthew 12:22-23 Then was brought to Him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and He healed Him, insomuch that the blind and mute both speak and see. And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?

The Son of David - This was a Messianic Title. So what they were saying was, “Isn’t this the Messiah?”

Matthew 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, "This man casts out demons only by Beelzebub the ruler of the demons."

Beelzebub - another name for HaSatan.

What did these Pharisee’s hear? - They heard the people asking them if Yeshua was the Messiah. Instead of considering if Yeshua was indeed the promised one, they dismissed the honest questions of the people and declared that Yeshua was empowered by HaSatan. They did this after seeing Yeshua perform miracle after miracle.

There are those that say that the Jewish people do not believe in a literal Satan. Well these Pharisee’s did and they accused Yeshua of being sent from him.

The Rejection of Israel by the King (Matthew Chapter 12:25 - 13)

Matthew 12:25-28 And Yeshua (Jesus) knew their thoughts, and said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself will not stand: And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how will then his kingdom stand? And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of G-d, then the kingdom of G-d (heaven) is come to you.

Without Him it would not be much of a kingdom.

Matthew 12:29-32 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathers not with me scatters abroad. Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit) will not be forgiven to men. And whosoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him: but whosoever speaks against Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit), it will not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

This is the only sin that is not forgivable. BLASPHEMY AGAINST RUACH HAKODESH. These men witnessed the fullest possible revelation of G-d and yet they rejected Him and attributed the works of Ruach HaKodesh to HaSatan.

Before you panic and start wondering if you might have committed “The unpardonable sin”, RELAX. The unpardonable sin cannot be committed today. You do not have Yeshua standing before you casting out demons, raising the dead, and healing the sick. So you do not have the opportunity to say AFTER WITNESSING THEM FIRST HAND, that the works of Yeshua are the works of Satan.

Matthew 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

This is very true. Many have claimed to be followers of Yeshua but all they produce is bad fruit (bad/evil deeds).

Matthew 12:34-37 O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you, that every idle word that men will speak, they will give account thereof in the Day of Judgment. For by your words you be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.

Someday ALL mankind will give account of themselves to G-d.

Matthew 12:38-40 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from you. But He answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there will no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah: For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so will the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

He declared that He would be in the earth for three days and nights. It happened and was seen by many witnesses. The prophecy fulfilled. He was dead for 3 days and 3 nights and then rose again.

An evil and adulterous generation - This refers to spiritual adultery and unfaithfulness to G-d.

Matthew 12:41-42 The men of Nineveh will rise in judgment with this generation, and will condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and, behold, a greater than Jonah is here. The queen of the south will rise up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the Wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

Who was there that is greater than Sholmo (Solomon)?

Yeshua

Matthew 12:43-45 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he said, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he finds it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goes he, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so will it be also unto this wicked generation.

When a person is exorcised, he is open to being repossessed by evil spirits again IF he has not accepted Yeshua as his Messiah. When a person accepts Yeshua, Ruach HaKodesh, comes and indwells him. Evil spirits can no longer control him. Note: the man in this lesson’s house (body) was empty, meaning that he was not a believer and Ruach HaKodesh was not indwelling him.

Matthew 12:46-49 While He yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, desiring to speak with Him. Then one said to Him, Behold, your mother and your brothers stand outside, desiring to speak with you. But He answered and said to him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brothers? And he stretched out His hand toward His disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brothers!

Yeshua’s divine nature had no mother.

We are all one family in Yeshua both Jew and Gentile. We are all brothers, sisters in Yeshua. We, as a group, are also of course known as the bride of the bridegroom, Yeshua.

Matthew 12:50 For whosoever will do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

If we do the will - That is, believe in the Son whom He sent, you can enter into the family of G-d. Our G-d is still One.
