Matthew Chapter 13 (Continued)

Matt 13:26-30 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the weeds also appeared. So the servants of the owner came and said to him, Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds? He said to them, An enemy has done this. The servants said to him, Do you want us to go and gather them up? But he said, No; because while you are pulling up the weeds, you may also up root the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, You Gather together first the weeds, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

There is a weed called “darnel” which looks very much like wheat and is nearly indistinguishable until it fully matures. It is a picture of those who appear to be believers but in the end they do not produce good fruit.

Matt 13:31-32 He told them another parable, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches.

A mustard seed is tiny but it can grow into quite a large tree. This is a reference to two passages in the Tanakh that indicate that the gentiles will be included into the kingdom.

Ezekiel 17:23 In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it will bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it will dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof will they dwell.

Daniel 4:21 Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation:

Matt 13:33 Another parable He spoke to them; The kingdom of heaven is like yeast, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

Matt 13:34-35 All these things Yeshua (Jesus) spoke to the multitude in parables; and He did not speak to them without a parable: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter THINGS which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

Maskil of Asaf:

Psalms 78:2-3 I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old, Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us.

G-d’s address through Asaf….Interesting…HaShem says that He will “utter things”, here Yeshua is fulfilling this prophecy. This indicates that this is G-d in the flesh. J

Matt 13:36-43 Then (Yeshua) Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and His disciples came to Him, saying, declare to us the parable of the weed of the field. He answered and said to them, He that sows the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the weeds are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the weeds are gathered and burned in the fire; so will it be in the end of this world. The Son of man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And will cast them into a furnace of fire: there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then will the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who has ears to hear, let him hear.

Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Matt 13:44-46 The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field. "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

Salvation is hidden from most people. However once found, the finder is willing to give up all he has to have it.

Matt 13:47-50 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet cast into the sea, and gathering fish of every kind; and when it was filled, they drew it up on the beach; and they sat down, and gathered the good fish into containers, but the bad they threw away. "So it will be at the end of the age; the angels will come forth, and take out the wicked from among the righteous, and will cast them into the furnace of fire; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

In the end, those who are not true believers will be cast in to Gehenna, “The Lake of Fire”.

Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the “Lake of Fire”.

Matt 13:51-52 Yeshua (Jesus) said to them, Have you understood all these things? They say to him, Yes, L-rd. He said to them, "Therefore every teacher of the law(instructions) who has been instructed about the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old."

These things were to be viewed in light of the Old truths. Do not spurn the Old. Do not spurn the New either.

Matt 13:53-56 And it came to pass, that when Yeshua (Jesus) had finished these parables, he departed from there. And when He came into His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, where did this man get this wisdom, and these mighty works? Isn’t this the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Miryam (Mary)? and His brothers, Ya’akov (James), and Yosef (Joseph), and Shim’on (Simon), and Y’hudah (Judah)? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things?

His own country - Nazareth, His boyhood home.

Yes, He was Yeshua Ben Joseph and will return again as Yeshua Ben David! Yet again His Divine nature had no mother and this nature did not have Joseph as his biological father. Yet He still had the title of his father and the advantages just like Moshe had the advantages of being the son of Pharaoh.

These would have been Yeshua’s half-brothers and half-sisters, children born to Miryam and Yosef.

Matt 13:57 And they were offended in Him. But Yeshua (Jesus) said to them, A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and in his own house.

Ever try to teach your mother or father something or someone who use to know you when you where little? or How about someone who use to change your diapers? Or wipe your nose?

Who are you to tell me? I use to change your diapers when you where a little one. J

Matt 13:58 And He did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
