Matt 18:19-20 Again I say to you, That if two of you will agree on earth as touching any thing that they will ask, it will be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Yeshua is omnipresent. Omnipresence is an attribute of G-d alone. G-d humbled Himself and took on human nature. If we humble ourselves now and trust in Him we will take part in the divine spiritual nature.
2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Matt 18:21-22 Then came Peter to Him, and said, L-rd, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Yeshua (Jesus) said to him, I say not to you, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
Mercy is forgiving again and again. We cannot always totally stagnantly define love by writing it down. Sometimes it is of the Spirit.
The rabbis taught that one only needed to forgive another 3 times. Peter must have thought that he was being especially generous when he chose 7, the number of perfection. Peter must have been surprised by Yeshua’s response.
seventy times seven - this is not saying we are to only forgive 490 times. Yeshua is telling us that we are not to keep score. “Seventy times seven” is another way of saying an innumerable number of times.
Matt 18:23-33 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened to a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought to him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his master commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you it all. Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellow servants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that you owe. And his fellow servant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have PATIENCE with me, and I will pay you it all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told it to their master all that was done. Then his master, after that he had called him, said to him, O You wicked servant, I forgave you all that debt, because you desire me: Should not you also have had compassion on your fellow servant, even as I had pity on you?
ten thousand talents - This was an astronomical sum that could never be repaid.
In other words, do to others what you would want them to do to you.
By rights this servant owed his master. The master could have thrown him into prison. The master showed instead mercy to him. How did this person treat those who needed mercy also that had been in the same situation?
The higher understanding of this passage is: we all were sinners and deserved eternal separation from G-d, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of HaShem. He could have demanded we be thrown into Gehenna. Our master instead showed mercy to us through His Son. To those who are not believers, How should we treat them? Should we show mercy? They need to hear about His mercy. If you are harsh on the lost, He will also show you the same kind of harshness in return.
Matt 18:32-33 …O You wicked servant, I forgave you all that debt, because you desire me: Should not you also have had compassion on your fellow servant, even as I had pity on you.
Once, we were all in the same situation. For while we were yet sinners Yeshua died for you and me. The angels declared peace and good will to all men. Don’t make G-d mad that He showed you mercy.
2 Tim 3:10 But you have fully known My doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, Fight the good fight of FAITH, lay hold on eternal life, where you are also called, and has professed a good profession before many witnesses.
Matt 18:34-35 And his master was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due to him. So likewise will my heavenly Father do also to you, if you from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
We cannot continue to hold bitterness, jealousy, hatred, etc. against another or it will affect us spiritually. What comes out of our heart is what matters to G-d more than anything else. If this continues in your heart against your brother there will be consequences.
Mark 11:25-26 And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses."
