Ruth Chapter 4 (Continued)

Rut 4:10 Moreover, Rut the Moabitess, the widow of Machlon, I have acquired as my wife, to perpetuate the name of the dead through his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brothers and from his position at the gate. You are witnesses this day."

He declares Rut to be his wife.

Rut symbolizes “the church”, the body of Believers. We are Yeshua’s future bride.

Revelation 19:7 "Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready."

Rut 4:11-12 And all the people who were at the gate, and the leaders, said, "We are witnesses. The L-RD make the woman who is coming to your house like Rachel and Le’ah, the two who built the house of Israel; and may you prosper in Efrat and be famous in Beit-Lechem. May your house be like the house of Peretz, whom Tamar bore to Y’hudah, because of the offspring which the L-RD will give you from this young woman."

Like Rachel and Le’ah - May she bare you children.

Famous in Beit-Lechem - Well I think this certainly is true. We have this portion of the Bible dedicated to tell their love story.

Rut 4:13-14 So Boaz took Rut and she became his wife; and when he went in to her, the L-RD gave her conception, and she bore a son. Then the women said to Naomi, "Blessed be the L-RD, who has not left you this day without a close relative; and may his name be famous in Israel!

Naomi has a descendant - in a sense Naomi adopts the first born of Boaz and Rut as her own. All that she has would pass to this child upon her death.

Rut 4:15-17 And may he be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has born him." Then Naomi took the child and laid him on her bosom, and became a nurse to him. Also the neighbor women gave him a name, saying, "There is a son born to Naomi." And they called his name Oved. He is the father of Yishai, the father of David.

Rut was better than seven sons.

There is a son born to Naomi. - Again we see that the child was considered Naomi’s child.

Oved - means “servant” or “worshipper”

Rut 4:18-22 Now this is the genealogy of Peretz: Peretz begot Hetzon; Hetzon begot Ram, and Ram begot Amminadav; Amminadav begot Nachshon, and Nachshon begot Salmon; Salmon begot Boaz, and Boaz begot Oved; Oved begot Yishai, and Yishai begot David.

These are Y’hudah’s descendants to David. Oved later became the grandfather of David. This later becomes Yeshua’s family line too.

In summary we have learned that our redeemer must be:

  1. A near kinsman

Hebrews 2:17 Therefore, He had to be made like His brothers in all things, that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to G-d, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. (NAS)

Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of the time came, G-d sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, in order that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. (NAS)

  2. Willing to redeem

Hebrews 12:2 fixing our eyes on Yeshua (Jesus), the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the execution stake (cross), despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of G-d. (NAS)

  3. Able to redeem

Hebrews 7:25 He is able to save forever those who draw near to G-d through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. (NAS)

  4. Have the price of redemption

Heb 8:3-4 Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer. NIV

Philippians 2:5-11 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus), who, although He existed in the form of G-d, did not regard equality with G-d a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross(execution stake). Therefore also G-d highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Yeshua (Jesus) every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ) is L-rd, to the glory of G-d the Father. (NAS)

Praise the Father for sending the Son and our kinsmen redeemer!

Praise the Son(our kinsmen redeemer) for obeying the Father!

Praise Ruach HaKodesh(Shakhinah) for leading us to “THE WAY” to the other world above through the Son. (1 John 5:8-12)

Matt 7:13-14 "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it. "For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it. NAS
