Yeshua
Who was Yeshua?
Matt 22:42-46 - Saying, What think ye of Messiah? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David. He said, to them, "Then how does David in the Spirit call Him 'L-rd,' saying, The L-rd said to my lord, "Sit at My right hand, until I put thine enemies beneath thy feet"? If David then calls Him 'L-rd,' how is He his son?" And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor did anyone dare from that day on to ask Him another question.
They dare not ask Him another question because He was claiming to be G-d.
(Matt. 22:42, this is also quoted in Acts 2:34, 1 Corinth. 15:23, Hebrews 10:13)
In Proverbs 30:4 we read:
Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped the waters in His garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name or HIS SON'S NAME?
All of Psalms chapter 2 is speaking about the Mashiach.
In Psalms 2:7 we read:
I will declare the decree: the L-rd hath said unto me, Thou art my SON: this day have I begotten thee.
and verses 11 and 12 of the same chapter:
Worship the L-rd with reverence, and rejoice with trembling. Do homage to the SON, lest He become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
Yeshua later confirmed being G-d's son and being the Mashiach in Matthew 26:63-64 when he was on trial. The high priest said to him,
I adjure you by the living G-d, that You tell us whether You are the Mashiach (Messiah), the Son of G-d.
Yeshua said to him, "You have said it yourself."
In John 8:58 "Yeshua said unto them:
'Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born I AM.
He existed before He came to earth. This confirmed His deity because this is exactly the title G-d used in the T'nach when He talked to Moses. G-d said, ".
Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, I AM has sent me to you. And G-d furthermore, said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel 'The L-rd, the G-d of your fathers, the G-d of Abraham, the G-d of Isaac, and the G-d of Yacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations." (Exodus 3:14-15)
He wanted this name to be as memorial because He would return using this name.
"I AM"
He does this next when the new and old covenants come together where He finished His own sentence "I AM" roughly 1500 years later by saying,
In the book of John
"I AM" .....the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
I AM ......the door. If anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved.
I AM.......the bread of life.
I AM ......the way, the truth and, the life, no one gets to the father except through me.
I AM ......the light of the world; he who follows me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.
I AM ......from above, you are of this world, I AM not of this world.
John 8:23
I AM ......He who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me.
I AM..........the living bread which comes down out of heaven, if any one eats of this bread, he shall live forever; and the bread also which I shall give for the life of the world is My flesh.
I AM..........the resurrection and the Life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
I AM .........the true vine, and my Father is the vine dresser.
Who else comes down from heaven but G-d?
Who else can give life but G-d?
Only G-d could come down to earth 1,500 years later to finish His own sentence. Yeshua' is the theme of the whole Bible and is the unity that brings together the Tamakh and the B'rit Hadashah.
It is somewhat easier to understand the prophecies in the Tanakh once you read and look to the Tanakh through the B'rit Hadashah. It is harder to see this just reading Tanakh (Hindsight is twenty-twenty)
Yeshua is described in many ways in the Bible. The Great I am is just one of many. Like the living bread, the true vine, the resurrection, the rock, the door, the good shepherd, the light of the world, the water that quenches our thirst forever, the wine which is his blood. All these descriptions are used to point to Him. He is the focus of the Bible. He is not only be found in the descriptions of the occurrences in the different lives in the Bible like David which portrays His Kingship and military supremacy to Solomon for His Peaceful Kingdom and Wisdom but also each book in the Bible points to some facet of His personality. Ruth for example points to Him being our Kinsmen Redeemer. Yeshua is anticipated as the Anointed one (I Sam. 2:10) and as the Son of David (II Sam. 7:14) the Divine Deliverer (Judg. 2:18) I and II Chronicles as the Builder of the Temple (Ezra 6:14,15), Nehemah shows Him as the Restorer of the Nation (Neh. 6:15) Fairest of Ten Thousand (Song of Sol. 5:10). Yeshua is the Suffering Servant (Isa. 53:11), the Maker of the New Covenant (Jer. 31:31), the Man of Sorrows (Lam. 3:28-30), the Glory of G-d (Ezek. 43:2), and the coming Messiah (Dan. 9:25). Lover of the Unfaithful (Hos. 3:1), the Hope of Israel (Joel 3:16) , the Husbandman (Amos 9:13), the Savior (Obed. 21), the Resurrected One (Jon. 2:10), the Ruler in Israel (Mic. 5:2), the Avenger (Nah. 2:1 Desire of Nations (Hag. 2:7), the Righteous Branch (Zech. 3:8), and the sun of Righteousness (Mal. 4:2). Blessed Hope (Titus 2:13), and Substitute (Philem. 17). He is also High Priest (Heb. 4:15) Our Righteousness (Rom. 1:17), Our Sanctification (I Cor. 1:30), Our Sufficiency (II Cor. 12:9).
Abraham portrayed Yeshua' as the father of many nations whom had a fight with different nations. Yeshua will return as the father of many nations and will have a battle with them and the Anti-Christ. This battle can be betrayed in the battle that David had with Goliath also. He too fought against these kingdoms in the form of "Goliath." Goliath symbolized the Statue that symbolized the kingdoms in Daniel Chapter Two. The kingdoms being Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece, Rome and the last kingdom of a mixture of Iron and Clay. Is it a coincidence that David picked up five smooth stones to conquer Goliath? I think not. The statue in Daniel is also destroyed by a huge "rock" which represents Yeshua destroying these kingdom and setting up his own kingdom that never ends. Is it coincidence that David too used a rock saying,
"I've come out to fight you in the name of the L-rd All-powerful.?
He is the G-d of Israel's Army, and you have insulted him too. These nations have insulted him. They have disregarded the Abrahamic covenant and have tested G-d at his word concerning His promise to Israel and their land. David say's
" the L-rd will feed these soldiers of these nations to the birds and wild animals.
Then the world will know that Israel has a real G-d.....The L-rd always wins His battles, and He will help Israel defeat them. (1 Sam. 17:45)
David also takes and crushes Goliath's head. This is symbolic of Yeshua crushing the serpent's head in Gen. 3:15 "One of her descendants will strike you on the head"
"For of Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things: to whom be glory forever." Rom 11:36
He can be seen in the Ark of the Covenant. The mercy seat describes Him for it is only through His grace we obtain mercy for our sins.
Ex 37:3-5 - And he cast for it four rings of gold, to be set by the four corners of it; even two rings upon the one side of it, and two rings upon the other side of it. And he made staves of shittim wood, and overlaid them with gold. And he put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, to bear the ark.
The gold represents His Kingship, Deity and the wood His human frailty, servant hood. The Ark had rings in the side, two to a side, to bear the ark. This symbolized His hands and feet with the four holes that bore his body on the beam. The opening in the Ark represented the wound in His side.
The Ark was also were judgment resided over Israel and the Priests had to make atonement for sin through the shedding of blood. In the same respect He is our judge and will judge all. The Ark's presence did no only come to Israel but to other nations such as the Philistines. This symbolized our L-rd not only coming to save the lost of the nation of Israel, but also to the lost of the Gentiles.
In John 18:4-6 - [Jesus (Yeshua) therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? They answered him, Yeshua. Yeshua saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. As soon then as He had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.]
Here He declares He is the great "I am" and reminds us of the Philistines falling dead before the Ark.
One of my favorite persons in the Bible is Samuel. How did he portray Yeshua?
1 Sam 3:4-15 That the L-RD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I. And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down. And the L-RD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again. Now Samuel did not yet know the L-RD, neither was the word of the L-RD yet revealed unto him. And the L-RD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the L-RD had called the child. Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, L-RD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. And the L-RD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth. And the L-RD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle. In that day I will perform against Eli all things, which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end. For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering forever. And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the L-RD. And Samuel feared to shew Eli the vision.
Here He represents Yeshua declaring He is a son ready to serve His L-rd and says "Here, am I" He laid down three times symbolizing Yeshua laying down for three days until the morning when He opened the door to the tomb and to the doors that opened to G-d. Samuel became a prophet like Yeshua' and he lived in the house of G-d as a Priest and Judge.
1 Sam 7:15 And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.
1 Sam 2:35 - And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.
1 Sam 7:9 - And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it for a burnt offering wholly unto the L-RD: and Samuel cried unto the L-RD for Israel; and the L-RD heard him.
Samuel cried for the sake of Israel and offered a lamb same as Yeshua years later.
Matt 23:37 - O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
He then offered Himself as the lamb.
Yeshua in Daniel:
Dan 6:4-7 - Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his G-d. Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live forever. All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counselors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any G-d or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
Yeshua also had those that complained against him concerning the law. He healed on the Sabbath.
Luke 13:14 - And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Yeshua had healed on the Sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.
Dan 6:11-12 - Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his G-d. Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any G-d or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, the thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
When they assembled against Yeshua' they found Him also making supplication before His G-d in the Garden sweating with blood.
Luke 22:44 - And being in an agony He prayed more earnestly: and His sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Dan 6:17 - And a stone was brought and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
This represents Yeshua in his sealed tomb.
Matt 27:60-61 - And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
Daniel was saved because he was found innocent.
Dan 6:22 - forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt
Yeshua was also innocent.
Matt 27:3-4 - Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, what is that to us? See thou to that.
These are only a few of many that will be posted later.
