Spiritual Checklist

Break up the fallow ground of your heart:

Examine yourself daily to see if there be any wicked way. You should go over your life as thoroughly as if you were preparing for judgment. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you. This is part of His ministry in the earth. As you examine the attitudes of your heart and the deeds of your life, determine to make an immediate and entire change. Doing this will give you God's perspective on your life and will draw you closer to Him. Your carnal man is at enmity with God, so this is a necessary part of the process of daily dying to self. Your heart needs to be broken before the Lord, so He can perform that perfect work in your life. The following is a list of suggestions to get you started in the right direction. As you purpose in your heart to do this, the Holy Spirit will reveal any other areas that need attention.

Sins of Omission:

Ingratitude or unthankfullness (for God's many blessings and mercies)

Lack of love toward God (depriving Him of the fervent love He deserves and demands)

Neglecting the word of God (not seeking to learn about His character as presented in His word)

Unbelief (the times you miss the opportunity to put your faith in action and thereby calling God a liar)

Neglecting your prayer life (depriving God of the fellowship He desires to have with you)

Neglecting your spiritual duties (forsaking the assembling of yourselves together)

Performing your spiritual duties in a half-hearted, mechanical way (lacking joy)

Lack of love for your neighbors' souls (no concern over their spiritual condition)

Lack of concern for the lost (your love for God is demonstrated by your efforts to reach them)

Neglecting your family duties (not doing your part to enrich your family members spiritually)

Neglecting your social duties (not being a good witness at work or in your public life)

Neglecting your own life (not taking the time to build yourself up in the faith)

Neglecting your care of and fellowship of fellow believers (not bearing one another's burdens)

Sins of Commission:

Having your mind set on the things of the world (loving this world more than the things of God)

Pride (being more concerned about your natural man than your spiritual man)

Envy (despising the blessings, giftings and abilities of others)

Being critical (having a spirit of correction that is devoid of love)

Slander (truth or lies told with the intent to deliberately injure someone's reputation)

Taking God's presence or His anointing too lightly (showing lack of respect for the things of God)

Lying (any deliberate deception)

Cheating (treating others differently than you would have them treat you)

Hypocrisy (putting on an act before God or others)

Robbing God (in time, talents, intellect, money or through unprofitable pursuits)

Bad temper (causing hurt or pain through anger)

Hindering your brothers and sisters (causing fellow believers to stumble)
