“OUR SUSTAINNG CHRIST”

Power plays an important role in the lives of people today. Strength that sustains is a concern of everyone. People buy vitamins, try different herbs and health foods, and use all sorts of exercise equipment to improve physical strength and well being. It is true, however, that the Lord wants us to take care of our bodies. But to live a full, abundant life, a person must have a full and confident faith. Many have discovered that while they were physically strong, they allowed themselves to become weak and powerless because of their misdirected way of thinking.

Jesus says, "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." John 15:5

When the will of man is misdirected and the mind of man is confused, confident power is missing. Faith in Jesus, our divine Savior, is important, not only to live confidently but also to do that which is pleasing to God. That is what Jesus means when He says, "If any man abideth in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit."

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Philippians 4:13

When Christ rules our hearts and lives and our faith is focused on Him, His power will make us able to meet every situation in life and in death as God would have us meet it.

"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work." 2Corinthians 9:8

God is Almighty! He can enable us to meet every situation. When we believe this from the depths of our being and make it a habit to turn to Him for strength and direction, we can better prepare ourselves for what lies ahead of us.

Application: Because we have free will in our lives, we sometimes tend to break fellowship with God, by stepping out of His will. He wants us to abide in Him so that we bring forth much fruit. He promises: "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you" (John 15:7). Are we sustaining our lives to Jesus as we should?

Today's Devotion: "Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit." Matthew 12:33

God Bless You All as you give glory to God in your obedience to Him as you bear good fruit.
