"WHY ARE WE HERE? ~ OUR PURPOSE!"

Have you ever said to yourself, "I don't know why I'm here!" or "Why am I here?" Well, many people out there today are asking themselves that question. Some are still taking their lives because they are "lost" and don't feel they have a purpose in life. It's so sad to hear and read of all the accounts of suicide in the world today.

"For me to live in Christ, and to die is gain." Philippeans 1:21

I am convinced that the most important thing in my life as a Christian,  is to have the reality of Jesus Christ in my life! There is a real danger that life can quickly pass us by. We can so easily make the highlights of our lives temporary, passing pleasures of this world. We can set our sights higher and concentrate on
making money, gaining social prestige, advancing in our professions. For so many people, life is lived one day simply to the next ~ without real purpose!

"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me." John 15:4

A life in which Christ has been the motivating power cannot be insignificant, even if is goes completely unnoticed by the world. The most humble duties take on some of the glory of heaven when performed for the glory of God. Our lives can be filled with purpose, with the glory of God, when by faith we live in Christ and He in us.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16

There is purpose in our lives! We are here not to just fill space ~ We are here to be a credit to God and to serve Him and other human beings! To this end, Jesus Christ redeemed us! Jesus needs us to complete some special assignment or to touch a life that no one else has.

Have you ever thought of an age in time in which you wished you could have lived? Be honest with yourselves ~ I know I have! A time, perhaps,  when the world seemed more peaceful? Or when daily lives were at a much slower pace? Whether there ever was such a time is debatable ~ for sin has always been present. Let's look at Esther, and how she lived in a troubled age....(Esther 4:4-17)

Although she was a Jewess, she had become queen of the Medes and Persians. Wicked Hamen hated her people and plotted their annihilation. Esther had to make a choice. She could cling to her crown, or she could try to help her people at a great risk to herself. God had placed her into the kingdom for such a time as this and expected her to do His will.

"For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" Esther 4:14

The outcome of Esther's decision is so far-reaching that, without exaggeration, she is now at the very moment knowing her life's purpose is at stake. But she would die if she must ~ to do God's will ~ to save her people.

It won't help to dream of a better age in time when there was less violence and far more respect for God and His Word. God wants us to live in the world today as it is. There is no other one! He is very much aware of these times and He knows us, better than we know ourselves. He put us here for a purpose because He knows what good we can do for Him and His Kingdom!

Application: Our primary purpose, while here on this earth, according to God's plan for our lives, is to reveal the love and forgiveness of God. We bring eternal comfort into the lives of others when we proclaim that Christ died to pay for their sins so they might be with Him in paradise someday. Our life in Christ is not an aimless drift into oblivion, but a fulfillment of the purpose for which Christ has called us to be His own.

Today's Devotion: "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." Philippeans 1:6

God Bless You All as you go with God and seek the lost, lonely souls who don't know their purpose in life and know not "why they are here."
