Part One (1-2 P.M.): Introductions, Background, and Status.

1:00 - 1:15 Introduction of Participants and Co-Sponsors, and Explanation of the Process

1:15 - 1:20 History and Background of the Effort: A representative of the Pan American Health Organization will provide participants of the workshop a brief history and useful background that motivated the co-sponsors to form a coalition of organizations to address the emerging health, safety, and environmental protection issues facing the Hispanic Community, domestically and throughout the Western Hemisphere. The presentation will include the highlights of the Forum and the model strategies that were developed during the First Hispanic Forum on a Safe and Healthy Environment held in Orlando, Florida in 2000.

1:20 - 1:40 Actions Taken, Accomplishments, and Future Plans: Representatives of each sponsor organizations will provide a summary of the strategies taken by their respective organizations as a result of the Forum. The presentation will include major actions proposed to address Hispanic-related issues and challenges, and their vision for the future.

1:40 - 2:00 Second Hispanic Forum on a Safe and Healthy Environment: A representative of the National Safety Council will provide a briefing on the planning of the Second Forum to be held in conjunction with the NSC's 90th Congress and Expo in San Diego, California in October 2002. The presentation will include information on logistics and registration for the Forum and the 2002 Congress and Expo, as well as a snapshot of the agenda, content, and special Spanish-language sessions to be offered at the Congress.

2:00 - 2:15 Break: Coffee and refreshments will be served

Part Two (2-4 P.M.): Brainstorming and Strategic Planning.

2:15 - 3:15 Workshops: Participants will be asked to join and participate in three facilitated work groups (Occupational, Environmental, and International) to begin the planning process for the 2nd Hispanic Forum, identifying potential content area (rank-ordered), defining materials needed, recruiting volunteers to be team leaders or organizers, brainstorming logistical matters, and discussing expansion of the coalitions.

3:15 - 4:00 Reports: A rapporteur will be assigned by each group in order to summarize their discussions. This final session will allow the participants and organizers to identify cross-cutting issues and coordinate the next steps towards the 2nd Hispanic Forum in 2002.
