Privy Chamber.

This was the royal bed-sit - bedroom, study and lavatory.  The king would conduct business in here (including financial). The privy purse was based here - this was the king's private 'bank'.

The privy chamber was staffed by gentlemen ushers, grooms, and pages, who answered to the Groom of the Stool.  Henry also had knights and esquires of the body, who attended the king at court and also looked after his interests in the country.

What's interesting is that really important men tended to have what we might consider to be minor jobs in the Household.  As well as the Groom of the Stool, there were also a Master of the Jewels, a Yeoman of the Robes and a Yeoman of the Beds.

Presence Chamber

This was where the king met official persons.
