CONTACT JUGGLING!
Yeah, so I lied about the "last engry before new layout thing" but ONLY BECAUSE THE COOLEST THING EVER HAPPENED TONIGHT! I went to juggling club today and was not surprised that I was the only contact juggler there. 10 mins later, another guy showed up with a red contact ball and was like "yes! another contact juggler!" His name was Nathan. Then Parker, who also juggle-juggles, showed up and did some contact juggling with us, too. It was awesome, because the club/ball jugglers were in a circle on one side of the room, and then there was us three. We talked about the other contact jugglers on campus we had heard/seen. Then another showed up for about 4 minutes. He had a blue ball. Nathan called him the Blue Ranger, and they showed each other some stuff until the blue contact ball guy left. But yeah, so we just contact juggled for 3 hours and did tricks and stuff. But now I'm all "wahoo!" Yeah. Awesome.
This is contact juggling.
But uh, besides that...Let's see. Volunteered today. Teaching people english. I have a girl who doesn't speak english at all, so this will be interesting.
Last Entry Before New Layout Yeah. When I feel like uploading it. Ha. Don't ask me why I'm listening to this song.
Belcon last night was exciting as usual. Right. Someone there was like "I'd like to thank the executive board for [something equivalent to making BelCon a fun/pleasant experience.]" Everyone, including the exec. board, just kinda looked at him. Yeahno. Then stayed up until 1:30 am writing a paper. Was talking to classmates who were doing the same. Poor Robert. He was up until 4 am, and quite sleeping/out of it today in FYI. During break, he put his head down on the desk and I flicked a hairtie at him. It amused me to see him jump. John gave me a disapproving look.
Anyhow, yeah, paper. It wasn't as bad as the last one. Our teacher keeps on giving us crazy specific prompts. Specific as in I can answer them in three sentences. Omg. But I took a break and walked to the Java Joint with a lad named Nathaniel because I wanted mint tea. Did I mention that I'm sick? Yeah, I'm sick. I caught the crazy bug going around campus. I could only run for so long. In another type of sickness, I refer you to Mike's LJ post. Luckily, this doesn't happen on my floor.
Ben Gave Me a New Layout I haven't heard this song in forever. Haha.
Went to Beloit Fair Labor Action Network's first meeting on Wednesday night. Small group. It'll be awesome though. Thursday, worked the Java Joint during lunch. It was hell, but I got a pretty good adrenaline rush. Then that night, I FOCed. We make fun of all the proposals. It's good stuff.
Friday was pretty low-key. Worked that night. People came and visited. It was nice. Then afterwards, learned how to argentinian tango with Adan. Then his dancing partner came, so I left them and danced with other random people. Afterwards, Mike IMed me and I helped him and Patrick R. collage the walls of their floor's lounge. It looks pretty awesome. People came and went, so there was talking. Patrick went to sleep around 5 am, Mike went to sleep around 5:30, and I went to sleep around 6. I woke up at 10.
Saturday, went to juggling club. I'm getting a pretty good hold on contact ball juggling, though all I can do is the butterfly. Trying to learn the waterfall. Yeah. Then Patrick drove me to Cub Foods where I picked up ingredients for apple crisp. Made apple crisp at 1 am. Ate it with him and Kay-Oh (don't know how to spell her name.) Took NyQuil cuz I finally caught the campus cold. Slept until 4 pm today.
Dropped apple crisp off to some people. Now I'm going to eat some of Austen's stirfry.
Crazy Last 2 Days I can see the moon out my window. It's pretty cool but there's a tree blocking my way, so it kinda sucks too. The RA upstairs sent me this spiff song over AIM. It feels more like he's my RA than my real one that lives on this floor only because he bonds more with people. Last night, went upstairs and played Uno with people in the lounge. Good stuff. I won two times in a row. Haha. But it was just luck. I dunno, it's better company up there than down here.
Today was busy. Adan helped me write down all the conjugations I could remember during his tutor session at 2. I have to cook him dinner as a thank you because I learned he doesn't charge. He's vegetarian (who isn't on this campus?) so I was thinking fried rice and something to do with tofu? But I don't know how to cook soft tofu, which is all they have at Cub Foods. Sucks. I'm making apple crisp on Sunday. Shyeah, it'll be exciting.
Then went to the Narrative/Activism committee/group today at 4 and heard people pump out ideas for the Poetry Extravaganza thing. That'll be interesting. Paid Austen back for the earrings I bought last night. They're a creme color, and from Turkey. Wahoo. Also gave him the contact ball I borrowed from Juggling Club which I can't make tonight. Then I went to volunteer and came back around 7:30. Food places closed on campus, except for the Java Joint, but meh. So I went back to my dorm and ate. English club is at 8:30 and Beloit Fair Labor Action Network (BFLAN) is at 9. We'll see how that goes, but they're both in the Java Joint, so I could switch halfway through. Maybe. Haha. Maybe I'll just skip English club. Yeah. Yeeeeaaaah.
After that, I have to go to John's dorm building and scrape out the chicken I made 3 weeks ago so I can use the pan for apple crisp. Exactly.
In other news, Flannery O'Connor's Wise Blood is pretty good. I have to finish the book by tomorrow night, which is alright because I have about 2.5 chapters left. Wrote a short paper on Hazel Motes' hats. He's the main character. He wears a black hat that got defiled by his mistress and changes it to a white one. I ran out of rice. I ran out of milk. I ran out of granola bars. I'm running low on coffee. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO SEND ME A CARE PACKAGE! Shyeah.
Okay, I'm done.
You know what? FUCK IT! I miss the piano - [insert] this is when Paul comes in and talks to me for an hour, literally [/insert] -. So instead of the guitar, I'm picking up the piano again. I said a long time ago I would pick it up again in college, so damnit, I'm going to.
I Still Need a New Layout Last night, when to a Java Joint meeting where we discussed stuff about the cafe and came up with new specials and learned how to make them. It was fun. We continually passed around the cup and whoever drank last got "fired." It ended up at our manager for the caramel mocha. But yeah, the drinks are really good. Then went to League of Pissed Off Voters. Beforehand, helped Jackson do stuff even though it wasn't my shift. But I was bored. After LoPV, did some homework until Mike came down to borrow my Scrabble board. So then went up and joined him and others at the floor-above-me's lounge. Did Chem and Spanish homework. William was being a punk. Patrick was being, as Mike calls it, "emasculated." Rich watched and commented when needed. The other Patrick, Mike and some other guy played Scrabble. By the end of the night (2 am?,) it was just Mike, another Mike, and I left in the lounge. So we hung out and talked until we got sleepy. Then Mike and I IMed. Went to sleep around 3 am. or 4? Don't remember.
Tried to wake up this morning, but I felt really sick. Probably due to my lack of sleep the night before, so I skipped my first class of the year! (Chemistry, but they drop 3 of our lowest grades, including missed classes.) But I was a good student and emailed my teacher. He's pretty cool. So yeah, went to Spanish. Good times. Went to work. Wrote up the specials on the dry-erase board and made it look all awesome. Then went to BelCon to report for FOC. Sat between Adan, who listend to his iPod and did homework the whole time, and a guy doing a study on our meetings. He asked me for my notecard and said it was his artifact. x.X Then shyeah, went here. Now to read more Wise Blood.
I Need a New Layout On Thursday night, I went to my first FOC (Financial Oversight Committee) meeting where I was elected to go for BelCon. Pretty much what I do is represent them in BelCon meetings and report what we've done. It was fun reading proposals and saying "yay" or "nay" and learning what the rules are.
Friday night, I worked. Someone made shitty coffee and it had the grinds in it. A really picky costumer who was a snob the moment she walked in was like "yeah I can't drink this" so I got her tea. There were people there. It was exciting. Met a senior named Matt and we talked about literature- well, Flannery O'Connor since I was reading her. He bought two apples. Folk N' Blues fest was also that night, so one of the bands were there. They were awesome. I talked to the bassist, Jack, a lot. I asked him if he would say my name when they played. He said if I was there. I told him I'd scream his name. Haha. Then Adan came. He also works at the Java Joint. He brought his boom box so I could play my cd. I kept on making fun of him cuz he was from California. Haha, but he is a good guy. Austen stopped by, too. Also saw Jordan and Audrey at the beginning of my shift. They asked for ice chais.
So, before I went to Folk N' Blues, I hung out in William's room with Austen, John, Mike and William. Forgot what we talked about. Then at 10:30 we trudged over to the tent where Folk N' Blues was happening. I saw a lot of people I knew and started dancing with them. I yelled at Jack and he bent down and shook my hand. Twice he said "hi Jade" over the mic and pointed at me =) He also wore my chicken hat, and the crowd of riled up, wasted students were like "YEAH!" and made gestures concerning the chicken hat. Yep, Jack was awesome. Dancing was awesome. Danced until they finished. I blew my nose afterwards and everything was all black cuz of the cigarette smoke and people kicking up dust (literally.)
Saturday, went to Juggling Club where I tried to learn how to juggle and do contact ball juggling. I borrowed a contact ball, so I have to practice. Saw Adan there, he was the one that tried to teach me to juggle three balls. Afterwards, I went home and did homework and laundry. Then Austen came by and told me Jackson was showing Pulp Fiction in his room, so we hurried over to Jackson's dorm. Jackson was having issues with the file, but it worked out in the end. John and I threw him peanut butter eminems and he tried to catch them like a seal. Will (John's roommate) came by every so often and watched. Good times.
Then we went to the Folk N' Blues fest. I danced. Duh. Saw the same people as last night. But went home at midnight, which was a bit earlier than they ended. It was really good music though. So was the band from the night before. Met a guy named Colin. Saw more wasted kids.
Went home, took a shower. Made 4 cups of coffee on impulse. Couldn't sleep, so I hung out with Noah in his dorm around 2:30. I brought him two cinnamon rolls. He was high all day, and still was high. So he was sleepy and I was awake. We sustained a conversation for about an hour. Talked about giant hummingbirds, he criticized my catch phrases ("good job" and "I'm sorry for your loss,") and other things I don't remember. Then I went back to my dorm to sleep. I slept around 4:15 am.
And woke up at 9:22. I got kinda pissed because I wanted to sleep for more than 5 hours, but I couldn't go back to sleep. I had a dream that I was playing a basketball scrimidge (sp?) with a bunch of guys, but then somehow girls joined and it was girl's vs. boys. Our (female )team was doing pretty awesome. Neither of the teams made a basket though. The closest to a basket was at the end of my dream when the teams were all gathered under the basket as the clock ticked seconds. But shyeah, no one still made a basket.
Time for homework. I have a pretty busy day today.
College, College, College Went to the activity fair yesterday and signed up for a shitload of clubs. Yeah, I'm screwed. Haha, I can't even make it to BAS (Beloit Anime Society) because it's at 4 and I have work at 4:30. But I'll probably go there for 20 mins. Signed up for Wymen's Center club, juggling club (it was the damn contact ball!,) BFLAN (Beloit Fair Labor Action Network, HEALTH (Humans,
Earth, and Animals Living Together Harmoniously,) Literary club, and Spanish club. Yeah. Oh, and Badmitton club, which I forgot where and when they meet. I also got an email saying that I had to attend a meeting for FOC. I don't even know what it is or stands for. It's at 9. My writing class ends at 9.
Yeah, we'll see how it goes.
I also got a couple of invites to sororities. Yeah, I probably won't join a sorority, but I feel kind of bad because they were people I knew. Rawr.
My grandparents sent me a box of goodies including a shirt, 20 krispy kreme donuts, a box of cinnamon rolls, and a shitload of chopsticks. I told them I needed chapstick, but they misheard and thought I meant chopsticks. T.T Oh well. Gave away a lot of the donuts because I can't eat that many >>
Watching people play golf frisbee outside my window. Hahaha. I need a new layout.
Argh. Papers. I couldn't concentrate at all on writing this paper, so I put on some classical. I downloaded this song in hopes to find my favorite waltz for the piano, but this is a string waltz. It's still pretty though.
Anyhow, Shaun of the Dead was pretty funny. Some parts were pretty tense though, probably because I watched it for the first time. Afterwards, I hung out with people who were tossing frisbees. Good times. Went to sleep pretty late and woke up on Sunday pretty late. Patrick brought me to Cub Foods so I could cook dinner. I cooked fried rice and it was a hit. Too much of a hit. I put some in a bowl for Austen (I borrowed cooking supplies from him,) and when I came back to the kitchen, 4/5 of it was gone. So I made a second batch. Too bad I ran out of eggs and oil, so it wasn't as good. Hung out with a dude that lives the floor under me. He's pretty cool. He plays the guitar. We played Scrabble and Uno. Slept late again. Bad habits are bad.
So yeah, today, I kept falling asleep in chemistry. We were doing molecular shapes, and I wanted to eat the gumdrops. But I didn't. Went back to my dorm and slept. Then went to Spanish and talked in Spanish about stuff. Went to work today as well. I actually made slightly more complicated things, like a mint steamer. Apparently it was good. I had never made one before, nor heard of one. I also made a kick ass Italian soda for myself. Austen dropped by to give me back the bowl, and Patrick stopped by cuz he was holding a meeting for something in the cafe. Psh.
Afterwards, I attended the first student government meeting (BelCon.) And holy shit, I was elected for an office. At first, I was nominated to be on the executive board. I was very much surprised to hear my name. My OL nominated me. I was in such shock, and I was against 2 upperclassmen (juniors or seniors.) So yeah, we stood outside while the people voted. I learned about one of the affairs last year of BelCon. Good times. When I came back, the two upperclassmen got ze job. A friend told me that it was tied between me and one of them, so they had to recount. And then I lost 19/21. Haha. But then the next job, which is funding (I think I decide which clubs get funding) I was the only person nominated, and so everyone said "aye" w/o any "nays." It was pretty cool, but I was crazy nervous.
So yeah, we'll see how it goes. I can't help but wonder who talked for me and if anyone talked against me while I was in the room. I'm pretty sure someone talked against me because there were a couple of people who were like "freshman shouldn't have a position!" But yeah, I was very much flattered.
So, now I have to tackle this crazy paper on the Tipping Point. It's only 2-3 pages long, and so far I have about 1 page. Almost there. I made coffee. Yeah.
More Stuff Oh yes, angry music.
Hmm...what have I been doing? Let's see. Worked my first shift EVAR at the Java Joint. It wasn't busy at all. In fact, I got really bored. The most anyone wanted me to make for them was iced coffee, which is just coffee out of a pot with some ice in it. Yeah. I was very much relieved when Jacob came along and talked with me. We played tic tac toe, and it's pretty much whoever goes first wins. Yep. Talked with Paul a bit beforehand. He is my band-aid.
Then went swing dancing with Patrick. He is actually a decent dancer. Yay. Then I did one dance with John's roommate and went back with him to their dorm to seek out John. Too bad I sucked at swing dancing with his roommate. Haha. Anyhow, John wasn't there, so I left him a message. Then saw John on the way out, so we sat on a swinging bench and talked for a couple of hours. Then we parted, and I made 8 cups of coffee in my dorm. Impulses. I felt very restless, so I IMed Robert and we went on a walk at 2 am and sat by the metal dragon and talked. Then we went back around 3 am. Talked with him for about 30 mins more on AIM, and I went to bed at 3:30 am. Yeah.
I don't know why I have no chick friends. I have many, many chick acquaintences/people to hang out with. Maybe it's because I went to an all girl's school.
I have a shitload of homework to do, so I'll probably be working on that for most of the day. John and I are seeing Shaun of the Dead tonight. That should be spiff. There's a frat that's holding a luau. I probably won't go.
Oh yeah, Thursday. Watched Dr. Strangelove in writing 100. Hahaha, good stuff. Not. I also went to a meeting for...I guess...a gender/sexuality awareness thing? I don't know. But I thought it was a club, but it was a committee, so I signed myself up for some groups. One of them is a "poetry extravaganza" where some renowned poet is coming (Alix something) and an organization called YO! I think it's Youth something. But it helps teens through their "transitional" period. I know, interesting. I almost signed up to help with the hurricane yesterday, but I was late and I had many things on my plate already.
Love/Hate Relationship with Caffeine Had Writing 100 Tuesday night. It was fucking awesome. However, the essay I had to read was fucking not awesome. So fucking not awesome, that I'm only 1/4 through the essay. Psh.
I drank two cups of coffee and am now paying for it with insomnia.
Today, I had chemistry class at 8 am. Mostly everyone is upperclassmen. It was a bit intimidating. Oh well. Spanish was alright. I watched El Norte tonight with half of my Spanish class at 8 pm (the other half is watching it tomorrow. We were given a choice.) It was a crazy movie. It was kinda dark with some funny parts in it, much like other latino movies. But it was a bonding moment for us Spanish 210 students. I couldn't feel afterwards because I felt desensitized to life, and we'll probably have nightmares tonight.
There was a candle circle for the hurrican victims by the Wall. I couldn't make it cuz the movie ended 30 mins after the circle started, and I didn't want to be irreverent and interrupt. I felt kinda bad not going, but I had to go see El Norte este noche porque I have an evening class tomorrow night. Rawr.
Omg, I'm so hyper, my knee is bouncing like crazy. Well, shower time.
La La La This song is giving me a headache. So I'm gonna change it. Now. Yay, "Me Gustas Tu" is playing. Yesterday, those who didn't have schedule changes (me) had to confirm our classes. So, I walked into the Wilson Theatre to pick up my schedule and they were playing this song. A bunch of people (including me) were busting it. And by busting it, I mean bobbing their heads and singing along to the song. It was awesome anyways. I also got a package from my mom full of awesome stuff like socks, yarn, bank checks, Alice 19th, and 3 boxes of granola bars. I also received a letter from Bronwen, and I wrote her back and sent the letter the same day. If you want to send me anything, this is my address:
Then there was convocation we had to attend with our FYI class. Oh man, I love our teacher. He's all like "honestly, I think this is a load of bullshit. Can we sit in the back so I can catch a few winks?" XP But in reality, he's very good at teaching, sometimes he gets off topic though. But it's enjoyable.
Afterwards, there was a picnic and music by the bookstore. I hung out with Paul, then Jacob, then Mike, then Patrick and at times John and Jackson. Yeah, I don't know what's up with my lack of chick friends. Chick wise, it's just my neighbor and Jordan, and we aren't even that close. Hmm, maybe when classes move on.
Speaking of classes, I had Spanish 210 today. It was crazy. I need to get my mind into Spanish mode cuz I really had to concentrate to understand. It was kinda depressing. Rawr, I just need more practice. I finished all my homework today. Haha. Yeah, no more procrastination for me >< I have Writing 100 in a couple of hours. Good stuff.
Interviews to work at the Java Joint were yesterday. I went and hung out with Jackson and Mike. I see Mike every so often, and Jackson is practicing on riding the unicycle. Hehe. So yeah. I got the job, which is pretty cool. I gotta go to training someday in the "evening." Unfortunately, Writing 100 is an evening class, so maybe I can go afterwards.
More College Life Friday - service projects. I helped organize school supplies somewhere local. Met new people. Was spiffy. Filled out financial aid stuffs and got my schedule. Intro to chemistry, Spanish 210, and Writing 100 (I don't have to take it, just didn't have any alternatives...but I'm excited about it) Ate some ice cream. Threw a frisbee with John, Patrick and a guy named Andrew. John went back to his dorm cuz he felt sick =( So, played crazy frisbee with crazy moves. Patrick kept trying to catch it from behind XP Then watched the Incredibles. Good stuff.
Saturday - Ate breakfast with Patrick, Carl, Leah and Mike. Patrick and I joined the group going to the farmer's market. I bought a small bouquet of flowers and he bought cinnamon rolls. He showed me a playground built in the fashion of a pirate ship. It was pretty cool. Then we went out to dinner at an Italian restaurant. Afterwards, we hung out with Jordan in her dorm. I sipped half a smirnoff in about an hour. Meh. Then got root beer floats at another campus thing, and we looked at the stars. Then I went to bed. The end.
Sunday - Did laundry this morning. Left for the bookstore around 2:15. Got books. It cost a lot of money. x.X Then on the way back to my dorm, I rested at a place that is now my favorite place on campus. It has random metal and wood sculptures, including a metal dragon. There's a wooden bench hanging between two trees, so I sat there for awhile. Then I saw Paul (he went with us to Madison) and we talked a lot. He wants to build a thing in my room so I can grow vines =) I said I'd fund it if he'd build it. There'd be two wood boxes on the opposite sides of my room and a square metal arc above it, with vines growing across it =) I visited his dorm. It's a newer one. It's pretty cool. Then hung out with John. Had a pretty rough day in between everything, but he made things feel better. I swallowed the rest of the smirnoff in about a minute. We went to Cub Foods cuz I wanted to cook. I made mushroom-onion chicken, rice, and boiled corn on the cob. I got a lot of chicken so we kept trying to get people to eat it XP But I guess it was pretty good. Sent some up to Patrick. I hope he liked it. Then John walked me back to my dorm. He is a good kid.
More College Life Yesterday, there was a guy who came to Beloit and talked about drinking responsibly. He was really good. They bring really good motivational speakers. Afterwards, around 10 pm, John (from my seminar) picked me up so we could go to the frat party. We went to the frat house and turned around after we got there because all they were doing was tossing bean bags in holes within planks of wood. Yeah. So we went to the wall (a handicap ramp) where people hang out. I didn't drink any alcohol cuz there was just beer, and I'm not much of a beer fan. So yeah, hung out and met people. It was pretty awesome. Met a guy named Patrick. So adorable XP Bwahaha. But yeah, it was fun. Went to sleep around 2:50 am.
Today, woke up at 6:30 am (don't ask) and then the seminar class went to Madison. Such a spiff place. We walked a lot though. Jordan, Robert, John and I went around. We popped in a poster shop and an import shop. We ate chinese food at Chins. It was good. When we got home, I slept.
Being Even More Jawesome! Went to DK's to get sandwiches for the picnic with Jordan. Met her roommates and other friends. We saw Carl along the way, and he came along. DK's was closed, so we ate in Commons (the cafeteria.) Then we went back to our dorms. Marina and I went to the 3rd floor of our dorms to see if there was life up there (we live on the 2nd floor) and indeed there was. So talked to them. There was another single dorm with a white board, and I asked what their closet was like cuz it was a different style single dorm than mine.
Capture the flag was a couple of hours later, so I went and played. Hung out with Robert (another guy from my seminar.) There were two teams: team Kick Ass vs team Evan. We were on team Kick Ass. Carl showed up, too, and was also on Kick Ass. Jordan and her roommate, Audrey, came to cheer us on. We didn't have anything to distinguish the teams from each other, so they made the rule "if you're being chased, you have to shout which team you're on." It was great. Kick Ass won and...well...kicked ass. Then we restarted the game, but this time with people wearing dark colors vs light colors so we could tell each other apart. I was wearing dark. Hehe. It was crazy, cuz the buildings were the borders. Middle College aka: Admissions was the middle line, so I was behind the building at the line, keeping a crowd of people at bay in a mini courtyard. It sucked cuz my side would get bored and leave me to watch our opponents by ourselves T.T Haha, they asked me my name, and I said I didn't have one. Told them my parents decided to be non-conformist and not name me. One girl was like "whoa, so, what's on your birth certificate?" and I replied that I wasn't sure and I thought there was a just a line where my first name should be. But then I decided to tell them my name was Jade. Good stuff.
When I got back to the dorm, I noticed one of the players on my team writing on my white board, and he happened to be the guy that owned the single dorm upstairs. So then I invited him in and gave him water (he didn't want coffee...so far, all 3 people I've invited in so far haven't been coffee drinkers ><.) We talked until about 2:30 am x.X
So shyeah, woke up at 7:30, went to class. We had to attend a diversity presentation given by Maura Cullen. She was an amazing motivational speaker. She made many people cry with happiness, actually, and she pretty much made everyone feel like hugging each other. She was that good. And the audience aka: the Beloit freshmen class was awesome. I think this was when I really started to feel at home.
Just got back from academic advising. Time for homework. Rawr.
Being Jawesome Ate dinner with family last night. Mom wouldn't leave my dorm, again. She stood at my door crying. My grandfather had to take them away...again.
Then, I invited my neighbor, Marina, for coffee. So we made coffee in my dorm and drank it at hers. She's really a spiff gal ^^ Her dorm has a very comfortable feel to it with warm colors. We talked about Oregon and other things I can't remember. Afterwards, the floor of our dorm (all freshmen, upperclassmen come next week) walked to the ice cream social. I didn't have any ice cream though, cuz I had coffee. I hung out with Carl who is from my seminar class. We tried to find things in common. It was funny, cuz we both liked alternative music, but on different sides of the spectrum ie I liked things with guitar and he liked the techy stuff (Radio Head, Arcade Fire.) Same with anime. He liked Naruto. Gross. And he liked Johnny Depp too. 2x gross. Yeah, so we bonded. Watched him and our student advisor from our seminar play each other in egyption rat screw. x.X too fast. Then he walked me back to my dorm and I invited him inside for coffee (shut up.) Then I found out he didn't like coffee, so he just went through my music. Psh. Afterwards, we went to his dorm. Typical guy dorm XP. Then his roommate came in and we talked about music more. His roommate and I have more similarities (hey Sarah, he's an Aquabats fan! But hasn't seen them in concert yet.) Afterthat, Carl walked me down to the door and I went back home and did my homework. And took a shower at 1 am. And went to bed at 2:30 T.T
Woke up at 8:04 am. Went to the seminar/class thing. Took a tour of the library and stuff. Jordan (a chick in the seminar, who's very spunky and really nice) is putting together a picnic for dinner and invited me <3 Wahoo.
So yeah, it's now lunch. My parents said I could take guitar lessons, so I'm going to! Yay!
Good Stuff Moved in yesterday. Good stuff. We got there at 7:30 am. Registration opened at 9. Omg. It was to get a "good parking spot," which we did. Right in front of my dorm. Saw Hannah and met her roommate, Hannah. They're both pretty cool. Got photo id, picked up bedsheets from the mailroom, blah blah blah. The mailroom is across the campus from my dorm, so I was heaving an awkward box when a man drove by in a golf cart and offered us a ride. Turns up he was the head of food (correct term?) and my work-study job happens to be GENERAL FOOD! He said I could work at the JavaJoint instead of the cafeteria or DK's (another snack place.) At the minute, the JavaJoint is being remodeled, and last year's group sucked. So they fired everyone. x.X Oh my. Anyhow, so yeah, he said I had a space there <3
Met my dorm neighbor (I have a single.) She invited me to go to breakfast with her, but I politely declined, as it was 7:40 am. I was gonna wake up at 8, but 20 mins is important >> I went to sleep at 2 am. I feel kinda bad for saying no cuz she's alone, too.
My mom wouldn't leave my dorm for 45 mins cuz she kept crying *rolls her eyes* I had to fetch my grandfather to get her out. Omg, and I have to go eat dinner with them tonight.
I like it here a lot, even though we got homework on the first day T.T It's this seminar thing, and I had to read an article and take notes on two chapters >> Rawr.
I Keep Forgetting About Sales Tax Flight to Chicago O'hare was alright. There were 3 women in front of us who I guess where having a "women's weekend out." They were connecting to New York, and talked non stop, whooped when they heard their connecting flight, and yeah >> They were checking out my dad. Whooo awkward. When we got there, no one knew which baggage claim thingy we were, but then we figured it out. All my boxes (3) and guitar were searched. So, instead of simply slicing open the tops of my boxes, they chose to rip out the side corners instead and NOT tape it back up. One of the boxes came back to me with quite a big hole in it. And things started falling out. Yeah. Not cool. I think I'll write a complaint >> Omg, all they had to do was tape it back up with their stupid "your luggage has been inspected tape" instead of putting the tape back on top where it ALREADY WAS TAPED PREVIOUSLY.
And then we went to the car rental place. My parents wanted to take out the back seat of the van we were in, and ended up fucking it up. So we had to get another van cuz no one would fix it. Dad kept pissing me off cuz he's not very observant. Finally got to Beloit and rested. Met up with Hannah, who I had seen previously at the Beloit party in Portland. Yeah, that was Wednesday.
Thursday, we went to Target in Rockford where we got more dorm supplies...the necessary stuff...shampoo, food, laundry soap, etc. We also went to Home Depot, and I got a pretty white orchid I named Beatrix from Final Fantasy IX. I've been taking care of her pretty well.
I got on the hotel's computer to check my email. There was a girl next to me, and I asked if she was going to Beloit College and she said yeah (a lot of the incoming freshmen are staying where we're staying.) I decided to set up a foozball get together (there's a foozball table, ping pong table, air hockey, pool table, pool, arcade, spa, and work out place here) at 10 pm. So we managed to spread the word to two other people. The girl's name was Mave (Mabe? sp?) Her voice reminded me of Liza's, probably which was why I was charmed by her easily T.T She had lived in Portland for quite awhile, but then moved 2 years ago. Then we found Katie, who was pretty spiff. She was from Tacoma, WA. We played air hockey. Then Leah came down (she's from Arizona,) and hung out with us. It was fun. We got kicked out 5 mins later cuz that area was closing, so we moved to the lobby and talked. Katie left around 11, and the rest of us continued to talk until 12:15. It was pretty cool.
Today went to Chicago. Left and hour late cuz my grandparents decided they wanted to go right when my parents and I walked out the door. Chicago was packed. No parking. Had to park pretty far. Ate at a spiff restaurant with a JAWESOME waiter. He was cool. When he came to our table, he threw straws in the air that landed on our table. He was also very jolly. Mom gave him a $10 tip. Then my parents and I walked 15 block to H&M where I got two pairs of pants and a brown jacket. Good stuff. I saw the most beautiful necklaces at a shop called Mali. I stayed at the window cuz I was scared of the prices T.T Omg...so pretty though.
Then drove to Rockford for dinner. But it was kinda scary cuz we kept on getting lost, and we drove out way to the farmland area where there were no lights on the road, and to top it all off, there was a great, big, red harvest moon. I think my parents were kinda uncomfortable as well cuz they kept pushing to go back to Beloit. But then we stopped off somewhere quick cuz my grandfather's blood sugar was getting low.
So yeah, back in the room again, sitting on the floor. My laptop froze for the first time about an hour ago. So, I let the batteries run out while I took a shower and then turned it again. And then it work, yay! I could use a massage, though =/
Tomorrow, I'm moving to my dorm FINALLY. All I can say is that I have been so fricking worn out by the past few days. I don't think I can be with my family anymore than tonight or else I'll explode. The girls I talked to are planning to wake up early too. My family is leaving at 8 am T.T
Before I left, I spent a lot of time with Ben. When we came home from dinner, Bronwen had left me her delicious snicker-doodle cookies and my sweater, and Trish (Abby's mom) left me a blanket she made for me <3
And, uh, this was stolen from Mac's LifeJournal. It took me a month to figure out what songs I wanted >>
My dream is to play half my music library on the guitar. 3 down...a lot more to go T.T
I think Mitch will only get this (Rob might, too, if he reads my blog.) So, "Shimmer" by Fuel reminds me of Skym/Matt. It's kinda gross. I don't even like him that much. He's such an elitest. I say that because he talks like he's going to rape the world. I dunno. I was talking to him about playing "Shimmer" on the guitar, and he found it on his computer and said that he liked the song. I pointed out that was the only thing we had in common, next to battlemode. So I told him that each time I played it on the guitar I would think of him. And I do. It's disgusting.
But then again, certain music reminds me of certain people. Songs by the Goo Goo Dolls, Everclear, and Vertical Horizon remind of Chris. Coldplay reminds me of Alec. The Killers remind me of Alec and David. The Strokes remind me of Ben. Anything remotely ska equals Sarah. (btw, I painted a poring on a mug for Sarah. It's pretty cool.)
Bronwen and I concluded that in two past lives, I was a bard. Once in the medieval time period, and the other in the peak Arabian times. I would serenade the ladies in waiting in their quarters and get a lot of ass. And I would also play in the king's harem while they fed me grapes and figs...and I'd get a lot of ass. Hahahahaha.
Almost Leaving, Finally Yesterday morning, went to self defense classes. Learned how to throw people. It was awesome. After that, went to the Heatheman hotel. Guys kept on looking at me. << There was this one cute guy who's phone number I got. He was a bus boy there. We kept on making eye contact, and he went in/out the door three times when his shift was over before he decided to give me his phone number. He went to the matre d (sp?) and got a piece of paper, made eye contact with me, waggled the paper and put it near the banister. So, I excused myself for the bathroom and picked it up. Then I left it at Bronwen's XP
Bronwen's party was done. Learned belly dancing moves. Not. Wore belly dancing things. Watched belly dancers dance. It always looks like they're hitting on you, even though they really aren't. One of them had these cool hair things I'm gonna make. Also drew henna on people. I did pretty well. I'm proud of myself. Ate good cookies, too.
Finished Loki's Lab Coat Mafia site and got a facebook.
Last Days in Oregon Brought D (my mouse) to Stephanie yesterday to take care of. Made fun of her posters. Good times. I don't remember what else I did.
Today, I went to Ben's to pick up my computer that my parents will now be using. Then we hung out with his friends named Ben and Guy. His name isn't Guy, it's something else I forgot. But they just call him Guy. We went to Pizza Schmitza (sp?), and I watched them play pool while I ate peperroni pizza. Then I took Ben and Guy back home, and Ben (Ben Ben) and I went back to my hizouse and he put the computer in rawr too sleepy. Anyhow, then we went to Old Chicago and I had dinner with him, his little bro, his dad and his dad's gf. His dad is awesome. Then went to his dad's apartment and watched his little bro and his dad play a video game. Then Ben walked me back to my car and I played "If You Could Only See" by Tonic on the guitar while I sat on the trunk of my car. Then some random guy came by and watched me play and sing. He said I had good rhythm. Right. So then he asked me to play another song and I played "Shimmer" by Fuel. He said I memorize well. Or something. Right. He asked about my capo. haha. If you've ever seen my capo, it's whack. Shyeah. Old school capo.
Don't know what song to try out next. I wish I could do "Rewrite" by Asian KungFu Generation. That would be so cool. But I can't really speak Japanese.
Don't Ask Me Why I'm Listening to this Song I've been listening to weird songs today. Weird as in songs that I usually don't listen to: "Hardest Thing" by 90 degrees and "Jaded" by Aerosmith.
Bronwen and I went to the Saturday market on Saturday. We got leather chokers. Mine has a flower <3 I bought two hats: one with a chicken and one with a fish and we walked around with them and made people laugh. Bronwen got a cool necktie purse. We also got henna tattoos. I got a phoenix (duh) on my writs and she got a fish on her ankle. We also got knee high socks. And bubbletea. That's all I can remember.
Also went to the craft store, where a person who worked there taught me how to use those connected needle things. I've decided to use up all my yarn before I go to Wisconsin, so I've been knitting like a fiend.
Talked to Sarah on AIM today. She's an assfucker as usual. Went to Target to buy stuff for college. Got about 89% of the stuff. All my gift cards covered everything. Wahoo.
Anti-Nazi Propaganda Yeah, watched Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark with Bronwen at the Kink FM "Flicks on the Bricks" thing at Pioneer Courthouse Squizare. Yeah, never realized how much of an American propaganda film it was. Bronwen pointed out that I should cheer for the nazis because everyone else was cheering for Indiana Jones. There was a chick by Bronwen who was like "omg! she can't die!" and was just freaking out through the movie. It was kinda sad. People kept clapping, it was a bit odd, because I didn't see anything to clap at besides stunts in a MOVIE.
Beforehand, Bronwen and I watched a couple make out for 37 seconds, which is pretty grueling if you're sitting behind them. But then they left and we took their seats closer to the huge ass screen. There was also a young man named Wyatt who was walking around, seeming as if he were looking for a seat, and Bronwen thought he was cute. So I said I would ask him to sit with us XP But then an incoming junior at SMA was there and said hi to Bronwen, and pointed out that she knew Wyatt and agreed he was cute and pointed out that she got dibs on Wyatt before Bronwen. Hahaha.
Yeah.
Meh Hanging out with my two cousins, aunt and grandparents in a room in my grandparents' house. Little cousin is playing with a Little Mermaid doll and the older cousin is playing Pokemon Emerald. I'm sitting in RO, chatting it up with Alec. I'm kinda bored. The girl cousin keeps putting cut out soaps next to me. I have a blue shell, a white rose, a white teddy bear, and a pink d uck.
It's All Good I was so happy yesterday, I was dancing in the car to this song on my way home from Fred Meyers. I took my little cousins swimming at my uncle Jet's place because the swimming pool by their place was holding a competition >> It was nice. I watched them. Didn't swim cuz I had my period and I didn't feel like using a tampon >< Haha, I bet you guys wanted to know that!
Shyeah, went grocery shopping, too. Been playing the guitar a lot. I've finally developed the calouses (sp?) so now I can bust it out without my left hand fingers hurting so much XP.
I also got an RO Diary. Haha, so if you ever want to hear about my RO life >>
I Am Learning This Song on the Guitar She calls me from the cold
Cooked more today. Cooked a Filipino dish called Apritada. My aunt taught it to me. It's yummy.
Stuff and More Stuff Went to the Aquabats concert on Friday with my flu mask. Sarah, Helen, Alvara (Charlotte's Spanish exchange student,) Charlotte, Linsay, Rob, Rebecca, Sam and I went. The Phenomenauts and the Epoxies opened up for them. The Phenomenauts were awesome. They had the ultra TP machine = leaf blower with toilet paper in front of it. And they had this nice thing to cool down the crowd. It was like cry ice snow or something. It was nice. The lead singer of the Epoxies is really nice. She hung out with the crowd before the show started. She recognized Sarah from the Seattle show and touched my flu mask. The Bat Commander also grabbed mine >< The Loveland/Meow Meow is nice. They have food and a balcony.
Yesterday, I ran a lot of errands. I've been cooking and baking a lot lately. Also got my video games back from Charlotte. Sat on the stairs with Sarah and talked for about an hour before she left for Germany. Helen left for Montana, too. I got hot dogs and ice cream with Ben. Yum.
Didn't do much today. UV therapy. Good stuff. Oh yeah, went to JaCiva's to pick up a cake for mom's work. German chocolate torte. I get 4 petit fours (sp) for myself. Had nice conversations on RO.
Mom Calls This the "Easy Guitar Song" So, the prednisone also lowers the immune system. So...GUESS WHAT?!?! I have MRSA staph yet AGAIN. Even after trying so hard to stop the reoccurances T.T It's almost gone now, though. So I think I'll be okay =) It doesn't hurt as much as the last one, and I can actually eat.
On Monday, mom broke down and got a new kitten. It's a he. Part siamese and tabby (has striped legs.) We named him Kanuki after the peco knight that gave me the santa hat in RO >> Ben is a sucker for the new kitty. Kanuki and Bombchu have been getting along pretty well. They tousle every so often.
So shyeah, been going to the doctor's a lot. Had my physical for college today. Fun stuff. I got two shots. I like vaccines. I hate it when they draw blood. It hurts less with the vaccines. I got meningococcal and Hepatitis A vacs. The nurse who gave me was awesome cuz she was so fast I didn't know what was happening.
Yeah...Blogging... So, what were those rashes? They were an allergic reaction to the antibiotic that treated my MRSA staph. Nice, huh? So now I'm on prednisone, which makes me really bitchy. But Ben is on it to for something else. It's kinda funny.
Been hanging with family from the Philippines. They're moving close to us. Kinda cool. Their kids are awesome. I don't think I mentioned the little boy plays pRo. Trying to figure out how to pay for him from the USA. Watched a bit of the Last Unicorn with the little girl. Omg, that movie is whack. The butterfly called the unicorn a "fishmonger." Fishmonger = pimp in Shakespearean. Watched Pokemon the First Movie again with them. Good stuff.
Haven't been doing much really. Wish I could talk to Sarah more often. I need advice on a lot of things, but she's been busy.
I Think It's Psychological ...that I keep on getting sick. It might be an excuse for me to stay in bed, so my body is all like "doooo iiiit." So, what's wrong now? I broke out this morning in rashes and hives. Just randomly. So far, I've taken 150 mgs (6 tablets) ever since 10 am. I didn't have to go to church, or grandma's, or to a party. I got to stay home. I honestly would like to rest this summer, but holy shiznit! Getting sick isn't the way to go T.T
So, I've been sleeping all day and feel really groggy.
A few nights ago, I watched Meet the Fockers. It was pretty funny, but not as painful as Meet the Parents.
For the record, I am 74/44 on RO.
Learn More About Me! Not.

Just when I was low, feeling short of stable
And all that she intends
And all she keeps inside, isn't on the label
She says she's ashamed
And she can take me for a while
And can I be a friend, we'll forget the past
But maybe I'm not able
And I break at the bend
We're here and now, but will we ever be again
'Cause I have found
All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade
Away again
She dreams a champagne dream
Strawberry surprise, pink linen and white paper
Lavender and cream
Fields of butterfliess, reality escapes her
She says that love is for fools that fall behind
And I'm somewhere in between
I never really know
A killer from a savior
'Til I break at the bend
We're here and now, but will we ever be again
'Cause I have found
All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade
Away again
It's too far away for me to hold
It's too far away....
Guess I'll let it go
