GOD - OUR REAL SUPPORT

We are never alone even when we feel we are alone;for there is the presence of our Eternal Companion, God, ever with us. But to realize the Companionship of God, one must first be aware of his loneliness. Ordinarily, man tries to assure his security by depending upon wealth, family, position, friends, state protection etc. But this feeling of security is short lived. Experience teaches him that there is nothing like permanent security in this world. There are occasions when he has to face the choice of losing his wealth, friends, worldly position and even the protection extended to him by the State. He now comes to realize that the entire creation is in a state of flux. Whatever he turns, he comes face to face with change. Even his own body undergoes rapid changes; someday it must go the way the bodies of his forefathers had gone. Hence, insecurity stares him in his face everywhere.

The more he becomes conscious of his insecurity, the more he feels the need for a place of permanent security. He struggles in vain, to get at something which would grant him the needed safety and security. He is disappointed at every turn. No-where could he find any firm support. He now comes to feel that he is all alone in this wide world, helpless and broken in every respect. There is nothing to be depended upon. His faith in human beings, institutions and all other physical objects is shaken to its very foundations.

Only when the soul gives up its dependence on all fleeting and perishable objects and beings of the World and comes to realize its absolute helplessness and loneliness, it begins to look to the Divine Presence for guidance, succour and support. With the increase of the awareness of the Divine Presence, the soul comes to depend more and more on It. The Divine Presence has always been with it, guiding, guarding and supporting it , in Its own mysterious way. But, the soul has been blind to this unseen guidance, because it has along looked to the external for ms and names for support and succour. Now it has learnt to look to the Divine Presence for each and everything and there is no more the feeling of helplessness or loneliness. It has come to realize the presence of its Eternal Companion- Lord God. It is now continually in the company of its Eternal Beloved. As the intensity of the awareness of its Beloved increases, it begins to get over the feeling of separation between itself and its Beloved, and finally, in Supreme awareness, realizes its total Unity with its Beloved. I n total love the Lover and the Beloved become one; for pure love is one and indivisible.

The soul now realizes its intimate connection with its Eternal Beloved, to whom it is inextricably wedded. Excepting its Beloved, there is no other subsisting Reality. In its ignorance, it struggled hard to get over its feeling of helplessness and loneliness by depending on the fleeting objects and beings of the external world, only to be disappointed at every turn. Now it has come to realize, that all its suffering has been due to its folly, in assigning Reality to the external forms and names of the world, while all the time forgetting the only Reality behind them all, the Presence of its Eternal Beloved. It becomes aware, that even the seeming reality of the external forms and names of the world, is due only to the underlying presence of its Beloved-The Only Real. It now realizes that all this seeming separation and the creation of the feeling of loneliness, is the game of the Beloved, Who only wanted to make the Bliss of Reunion Doubly Blissful. All Glory to the Eternal Lover and His Eternal Beloved- the Supreme One playing the game of the Inseparable Two!
