Kenshin, like a few others, makes my list of the cutest anime characters I've seen as well as
one of my favorite characters. To explain why I like Kenshin, I'll have to break it up into his two
personalities that I call "Oro Kenshin" and Battousai Kenshin.
Explaining why Kenshin is super sexy doesn't have to be split into two--he's gorgeous no matter what
personality he is. ^_^
"Oro Kenshin" is the Kenshin that you first see at the beginning of the manga and the anime series. It should be obvious why I've nicknamed him that, but if you haven't seen Rurouni Kenshin then you might not know. One of Kenshin's cute little habits is to say "oro" when he's confused or more often when his eyes have become spirals. This Kenshin is the one you can see playing with children, washing clothes, and cooking. Hello?? If that isn't enough to make him the perfect husband, Oro Kenshin is also the type that will protect you from whatever dangers may come your way, and in the process he'll never kill. That's one reason I like Oro Kenshin; it's interesting to see how he's going to beat an enemy and not kill them (even if sometimes it might be better if he just went ahead and killed them). The other reason it's interesting to see Oro Kenshin fight is because the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu Sword Techniques are so awesome! This Kenshin also has another speaking habit that I love--repeatedly saying "de gozaru" at the end of most of his sentences. I love that! Oh, and I love his other polite speech, such as calling Kaoru, "Kaoru-dono." He's not the only person who does this, but I just love when Kenshin does it. Oro Kenshin also has such a wonderful relationship with Sanosuke (or Sano) that makes me love Kenshin. My favorite Sano and Kenshin scene (in the anime) is when Sano drags Kenshin with him when he's gambling and Kenshin keeps making him lose. It was hilarious, but in the manga, I think ( it's been a while since I've read it), when Sano takes him gambling, Sano wins every time thanks to Kenshin. In conclusion, Oro Ken shin is super polite, has great sword techniques, has a great potential to be the perfect husband, and has great relationships with other people like Sano and his master, Hiko Seijuro (more on this on Hiko's page).
Battousai Kenshin, or as he was known Hitokiri Battousai or Himura Battousai (or simply Battousai), is the coolest killer I have seen!
Now
"Oro Kenshin" is sweet and loveable, but Battousai Kenshin is sexy and dangerous! I mean, seeing Kenshin never kill with those
impressive sword moves makes you wonder what would happen if he did them without his sakabatou (reverse blade sword).
I haven't read the part in the Kenshin manga where they show his past, but I did watch all of the Kenshin OAVs. Talk about incredible!
I hadn't seen such bloodiness in a long time! Kenshin was killing up a storm--you'd almost think it wasn't him. And Kenshin sounded so lifeless
back then (he was the battousai many, many years ago). Even though he didn't have the cute little genki glow to him that Oro Kenshin had, Battousai
Kenshin was still sexy with his usual straight face. You first see a real glimpse of his Battousai side when Saitou Hajime (a character I border on
hatred and mild like) appears. That fight between Kenshin and him is one of my favorite parts of Rurouni Kenshin. Kenshin slips into the
Battousai personality and gets close to almost killing Saitou (he should have; that guys sucks)! The best thing is that Kenshin's violet eyes turn
this yellow color that makes him really look crazy. Some of his polite speech is gone, and of course, his mind is set on killing people that should be killed. What
makes Kenshin still great despite the fact he went around killing people was that his past massacres weren't random. His superiors told him who he needed to kill, and
he did so. There were few people Kenshin killed that were by his choice only. Kenshin chose to be the Battousai only to help end the unavoidable bloody revolution. Luckily,
Kenshin vowed afterwards to never kill anyone to repent for the many lives he had taken. Some may say that he could never make up for his past, but I think Kenshin
has saved more than he's killed. Hard to believe considering the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu techniques will usually kill you in an instant! I love to see Kenshin kill
almost as much as I like to see him just beat people unconscious.
Now that I've explained why I love Kenshin, I'll explain why I love his looks. On the left is a picture of a wallscroll I intend to get for my room (*sighs*) and the
most beautiful picture of Kenshin I've seen besides the one in the background of this page. Kenshin has some the prettiest, long, ruby-colored
hair I have ever seen. Whether it is in his "Oro Kenshin" fashion where the ponytail is at the base of his neck or in the Battousi fashion where the ponytail is at the top of
his head, Kenshin still looks good. I love the way his bangs frame his face, and I especially love the cross-shaped scar on his left cheek. That scar just makes him special and
at the same time kawaii even if it does have a special meaning (which I won't mention because I've already said enough spoilers). Kenshin's violet eyes are another of his appealing
qualities, and I thought they looked even more beautiful when he went blind. I don't know, I guess it was because more attention was brought to his eyes, and they stood out more than
usual. I also like Kenshin's clothes. At first I thought Kenshin was wearing some kind of skirt-like thing until I saw him move and noticed they were these cool pants. Kenshin is probably
the reason I love the way the Japanese dressed back then. Finally, Kenshin is cute simply because of how short he is. I mean, he's barely taller than Kaoru (if he even is) and Kenshin is somewhere
in his thirties when he meets the teenage Kaoru. I love little short guys (which is part of my love for Vegita, Hiei, and Chris)!
Whoever said that "Oro Kenshin" can't be a little crazy too? I thought Kenshin was so cool when he did this, even if some may think it's sick (*sweat-drop*)
