Hitsuji: Yay! we got to the second episode in the series where the
Senshi get their Princess forms!
Yoon Mi: This is a rather sad episode though. A bit on the dark side.
Hitsuji: It's still cute! It has Sailor Mars as the focus!
Yoon Mi: It still is a bit on the sad side compared to the Minako
Episode. But let's stop Babbling.. tell the disclaimer and shut up!
Hitsuji *whines* Yoon Mi is soooooooo

I think Sailor Mars feels lost in this world! Her grandfather died on
this day! She didn't get her dream, and Crystal Palace was built on
top of Hiwaka Jinga [Yoon Mi: Hiwaka Shrine]. Whose idea was this?
Because in the name of the moon, I'll punish you!
(FADE OUT)
Beginning song: Moon Dream
(SAILOR MARS stands in front of a castle floating in the sky. SAILOR
MARS is dressed in Miko clothes.)
PHOBOS
(VOICE ONLY): It's time to find your true self.
DEIMOS
(VOICE ONLY): It's time to face your destiny.
(Title screen: Mars's starseed transforms! The Princess of War
appears.)
SMALL LADY
Mars's starseed transforms! The Princess of War appears.
INT. HOSPITAL? ?
[Yoon Mi: If you think back to the scenes where Hotaru was
remembering her father in SMS.. and those sketchy and very static
scenes where the edges were in black.. that's what I'm picturing here.
It's also my guess as to how they would do these scenes.]
DOCTOR
She's very weak Hino-san.
(A young REI looks up anxiously)
REI
Is she going to die?
REI
Papa? Where are you papa?
FADE TO:
EXT. HIWAKA SHRINE ?
(A young REI laughs)
(REI looks up into the sky. Two crows fly to her feet.)
REI
Grandpa! Look!
(GRANDPA watches and smiles.)
REI
Their names are Phobos and Deimos.
GRANDPA
But there are a lot of crows in the city.
FADE TO:
GIRL 1
That girl is strange. She can tell the future.
GIRL 2
or she thinks she can!
(GIRL 1 and GIRL 2 laugh.)
FADE TO:
EXT. ? ?
LUNA
Use the pen from the shrine! You are Sailor Mars.
[Yoon Mi: I don't remember the exact line to tell her that she was
Sailor Mars. If anyone has it, fork it over! I want it! Remember!
Japanese episodes line!]
FADE TO:
EXT. OUTSIDE OF HIWAKA JINGA ?
CONSTRUCTION MAN
Sorry, but the plans have to destroy the temple.
(SAILOR MARS watches as the place is torn down.)
SAILOR MARS
I'm sorry grandpa..
(FADE OUT)
FADE IN:
INT. CRYSTAL PALACE 8:00
(Open on Sailor Mars's eye.)
SAILOR MARS
All of it is gone except for my memory of it. This is where the temple
used to be.
(PHOBOS and DEIMOS are skidding across the floor.)
SAILOR MARS
I told you that you could be free today. You remember, don't you? This
is the anniversary of Grandpa's death.
(PHOBOS and DEIMOS look at her.)
SAILOR MARS
Yuichirou left after grandpa died and the temple was built over.
(PHOBOS and DEIMOS fly up to Rei's shoulders.)
(Camera zooms in a close up shot of SAILOR MARS's eyes as SAILOR
MERCURY talks.)
(Camera fades in SAILOR MERCURY on a black background slowly.)
SAILOR MERCURY
(DISTANT VOICE ONLY): I've tried to find another place, but I can't find
one that is stable enough. The temple has to simply be built over. We
can try to move the shrine, or rebuild it..
SAILOR MARS
No, that's OK, I understand.
SAILOR MERCURY
Are you sure? I'm so sorry Sailor Mars.
(Fade Mercury's image out.)
(Close up on SAILOR MARS's face and pan out.)
(PHOBOS and DEIMOS caw.)
(FADE OUT)
FADE IN:
INT. KITCHEN OF CRYSTAL PALACE 8:05
SMALL LADY
Have you seen Sailor mars. She promised me that she'd teach me how
to use a bow and arrow.
SAILOR JUPITER
I think you should leave her alone today.
(SAILOR JUPITER is concerned.)
SMALL LADY
Oh, I remember. It's today.
DIANA
What's today?
SAILOR JUPITER
The day that Sailor Mars's Grandfather died and the temple was
wrecked down.
SMALL LADY
I'm going to look for her.. I made some cookies. I hope they cheer her
up.
(SMALL LADY runs off with DIANA following.)
FADE IN:
INT. CRYSTAL PALACE 9:05
SAILOR MARS
I couldn't follow my dreams because I was Sailor Mars.
(SMALL LADY hears outside of the entrance. She pauses, frowns
and then smiles brightly. Diana skids in after her.)
(SMALL LADY picks up DIANA jumps on SMALL LADY's head.)
SMALL LADY
I made these cookies I wanted to cheer you up Sailor Mars. If you
want to eat them, I'll leave them here. Bye!
(SAILOR MARS smiles as SMALL LADY leaves.)
SAILOR MARS
(OUT LOUD AND TO HERSELF): She's so much like Usagi.. before she
became Neo-Queen Serenity. Small Lady is growing fast.
(FADE OUT)
FADE IN:
INT. A DARK PLACE ?
(CORAL and CORALKO are confronting IOLITE and ONYX)
(CORAL's and CORALKO's mouths are moving at the same time though
the voice is Coralko's.)
CORAL
Sailor Venus is a Princess too? Kill her!
IOLITE
She gave up being a Princess.
ONYX
To save and be with her friends.
(CORAL pauses.)
CORAL
Coral wanted friends, but they have no use! They only betray Coral.
Kill Small Lady and her friends. Kill everything she knows. I want to
destroy her. (WHINING): Right nooooowww..
(IOLITE and ONYX bow to their knees and then crawl backwards out of
CORAL's presence.)
IOLITE
Sailor Mars should be an easy target. She's supposedly grieving for a
man who has been dead for over half a century.
ONYX
Perfect. But we can't get to her with the shield being modified by
Sailor Mercury.
IOLITE
She has to come out to buy flowers to put on the grave.
(FADE OUT)
(Commercial Break)
FADE IN:
INT. CRYSTAL PALACE 10:05
(SAILOR MARS claps sharply two times. SAILOR MARS gets up with
PHOBOS and DEIMOS on either shoulder.)
(SAILOR MARS waves gohei back and forth.)
[Yoon Mi: gohei are those zigzag papers on a stick]
SAILOR MARS
I'll be back soon.
(SAILOR MARS looks down at the cookies SMALL LADY made, picks
them up and puts them in her )
SAILOR MARS
Phobos, Deimos, you'll keep me company for today, eh?
(PHOBOS and DEIMOS caw. SAILOR MARS smiles and scratches their
heads.)
(FADE OUT)
SWITCH TO:
EXT. Flower Shop 12:00
(SAILOR MARS selects a bouquet of white lilies.)
SAILOR MARS
White and they are my favorite kind of flower.. Casablancas. Grandpa
would have liked them. (TO SALESPERSON): I'll take these. How much
are they?
SALESPERSON
150,000 yen.
[Yoon Mi: In Tokyo prices are steep. That would be 50 dollars.]
(SMALL LADY looks into the window spying on SAILOR MARS.)
SMALL LADY
Even if it's a day of mourning.. she's not supposed to leave the
palace. I wonder what she's up to..
DIANA
Isn't spying not proper etiquette?
SMALL LADY
I have to know what she's up to!
(Camera switches to Iolite and Onyx in the air with their aromas
crossed.)
ONYX
Now is the time to strike!
IOLITE
Gall Gendarme come out!
GALL GENDARME
On duty sir!
(GALL GENDARME salutes)
[Yoon Mi: I know this Gall is a bit of a stretch, but bare with me!
Gendarme means a member of the French National police with the
armed forces that handle law enforcement. Imagine appropriately. I
would guess it would be a toy one.]
ONYX
Attack Sailor Mars. Kill her.
GALL GENDARME
Yes, Mam!
(GALL GENDARME salutes and goes to attack.)
ONYX
I'm going to leave, those introductions give me a headache.
IOLITE
I'll join you soon. You should lay down and rest.
(ONYX disappears.)
(SAILOR MARS steps out of the flower shop.)
(GALL GENDARME salutes SAILOR MARS)
GALL GENDARME
Reporting for duty mam.
(GALL GENDARME pulls out a gun and fired.)
(SAILOR MARS drops the flowers and ducks.)
(The bullet lands on a passerby's face and leaves a red mark of
paint.)
SAILOR MARS
(ANGRY): You ruined my flowers!
ETERNAL SAILOR CHIBIMOON
Stop right there! You destroyed Sailor Mars's day of mourning! I
cannot forgive you! I am the Pretty Sailor-suited soldier for love and
justice Eternal Sailor Chibimoon! In the name of the moon I will punish
you!
(Iolite disappears holding his head.)
GALL GENDARME
You are under arrest! You have--
SAILOR MARS
I won't let you get away with this!
(SAILOR MARS jump-kicks GALL GENDARME)
SAILOR MARS
Sailor Kick!
(The kick doesn't leave a blemish on GALL GENDARME's face.)
SAILOR MARS
What?!
(Phobos and Deimos land at SAILOR MARS's feet.)
(Time slows and then stops.)
(PHOBOS and DEIMOS glow until they turn into miniature human
forms.)
(SAILOR MARS kneels.)
PHOBOS
We should have been better to you.
DEIMOS
We were there and watched your grief Princess mars, but we did
nothing..
PHOBOS
to heal your pain.
DEIMOS
We should have spoken and told you our true purpose.
PHOBOS
But we didn't have the power. We were scared.
DEIMOS
We protect your Mars Crystal, Princess.
PHOBOS
We hope to guide you always.
(PHOBOS and DEIMOS fade and leaves SAILOR MARS's starseed
behind.)
(A little person that looks like SUPER SAILOR MARS appears.)
GUARDIAN MARS
You are truly back. You can take back Phobos Deimos castle now and
reclaim your kingdom. Yu can forget your pain and sorrow and go
back to your true home.
(SAILOR MARS's starseed flies slowly into the air and lands in
GUARDIAN MARS's hands. The starseed blossoms and transforms.
She presents it to SAILOR MARS.)
(SAILOR MARS holds out her hands. GUARDIAN MARS lands into
SAILOR MARS's hands.)
(SAILOR MARS sparkles with energy. A red dress floats about her and
the sign of Mars appears on her forehead.)
(The planet of Mars floats behind her. Around Mars floats a castle.)
PRINCESS MARS
But I can't. My home is here now.
GUARDIAN MARS
Your mission is over. You will soon be replaced. You are no longer
needed. Wasn't the pain and suffering hard? You are the Soldier of
War. You shouldn't have to feel that pain.
PRINCESS MARS
But my true home is here now. I have friends here too. Being a Sailor
soldier was hard,
(PRINCESS MARS's eyes brim with tears.)
PRINCESS MARS
and I suffered pain and hardship. It was well worth it if I could have
my friends. I belong here and my mission is never over. I could not
relax if I knew my friends were in trouble. My true mission and dream
is to protect the King and Queen and my friends.
GUARDIAN MARS
I understand! You made the correct decision. Just remember me, call
out the name of your castle and use your crystal to use your true
power.
(GUARDIAN MARS fades)
(Time slows and unfreezes.)
(SAILOR MARS appears in a new Sailor soldier uniform.)
ETERNAL SAILOR MARS
I will not forgive you for what you've done! (RAISING HANDS INTO AIR):
Castle Phobos Deimos, give me the power to vanquish this evil!
(A red crystal materializes into SAILOR MARS's hands. The crystal
blooms. SAILOR MARS grows bright with a red aura.)
ETERNAL SAILOR MARS
Because I believe in my true dream Guardian Mars, give me the power!
(GALL GENDARME is taken by surprise.)
GALL GENDARME
Justice!
(GALL GENDARME is defeated.)
FADE IN:
EXT. FLOWER SHOP 13:00
(SMALL LADY looks up at SAILOR MARS)
SMALL LADY
I'm sorry I spied on you. I didn't know you had permission.
SAILOR MARS
I won't report you.
(SAILOR MARS smiles holding her bouquet of new Casablancas.)
SAILOR MARS
I think I can finally be happy.
(DIANA is jumping at PHOBOS and DEIMOS behind SAILOR MARS and
SMALL LADY. PHOBOS and DEIMOS are sweatdropping.)
SMALL LADY
I am glad.
(FADE OUT)
FADE IN:
Ending song with credits: Moon Mystery
On the next Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Chibimoon sequence:
SMALL LADY
I refuse to transform!
DIANA
Why?!
SMALL LADY
Why should I? The galls are all being defeated without my help!
DIANA
But you promised Neo-Queen Selenity-sama and King Endymion-sama
to find your destiny! Sailor Jupiter also went outside the palace.
SMALL LADY
She went outside!? She could be in danger. I'll have to transform!
(Title screen)
SMALL LADY
Sailor Chibimoon Newmoon: Jupiter's starseed's change! Nature's Princess
appears.
SMALL LADY
Tsuki wa Ai no message. (The moonlight carries the message of love.)
(Ending screen with manga-ka and the companies involved)
(FADE OUT)

Hitsuji: It was sooo cuuuutteee!!
Yoon Mi: Was not! Why do I even bother trying to explain it to you?
Anyway, did anyone notice that this was closer to the manga Rei/
Sailor Mars?
Hitsuji: Huh?
Yoon Mi: See.. the director that made those changes to Rei left after
SMSS. He wanted to do something more "challenging".. Also Usagi isn't
there to badger. I did preserve some of the anime character by
making her reserved and explaining her past actions through a manga
event: the death of her mother. Anyway, without Ikuhara-san Rei/
Sailor Mars in this episode is not exactly the same!
Hitsuji: Oh! This episode was cute!
Yoon Mi: *sighs* Read the author notes.
Author's notes for this particular episode:
- OK, Now I've done it.. I'm in to get Rei. I don't understand Rei!
*ahem* points to reference episodes! If you don't remember. Hiwaka
Shrine was a Crystal Point. As I recall the crystal points (though
made up for the anime) mark where the Crystal Palace is.. OK.. Maybe
the original directors wouldn't remember this.. but for these set of
episodes I decided that Tadano-san would direct it. She directed SMR
as well! So there.. it is very possible this episode could have been
done. OK.. I'm paranoid.. anything else new? (Also I always thought
Shinto was neat, and I would love to see the REAL Hiwaka Ginga
someday!)
- The other thing is who would do the voices of Deimos and Phobos? I
think it should be one Seiyuu using the same voice, but with a good
command of inflection. Recommendations are taken. Personally.. I
would want it to be throaty (and something like Tomizawa Michie's
voice).. so Ogata Megumi might do a nice job. Even Han Keiko-san
might do a nice job. Though she's already doing Luna.. (she did an
awesome Queen Beryl though)
- Another note! I almost forgot.. all flashbacks in anime aren't usually
done with the hazy segway. If anyone has watched "Highlander" the
segways are more like those. Focus in on the eyes of the person
having the flashback. It's rather neat, because the person doesn't
have to say, "I remember.." In this episode I followed suit.
