From Birth to Death

Your soul must have been someplace before you were born

After birth, it had a golden spoon in mouth or a garland of thorn

Or between these two extremes was your lot

You didn’t have any say, whether you liked it or not

Where on that spectrum you were born depends upon

Your acceptance and adherence to Allah’s Covenant early on

The big computer in the sky decided where you will be born in this life

Your relations were all pre-determined, including your children & wife

If you are born in a rich and mighty family, don’t be too proud

We all will go one day in the same length of shroud

Prayers, Penance and service to fellowman in this life is a must

To forget these and luxuriate, will again make this life a bust

If you were born with a garland of thorn in your neck, don’t worry

Prayers, penance and service to fellowman, fill your life with this flurry

Sometimes, nake people have sufferings, trial & tribulations in this life

Allah is testing them to uplift,  & to see how they deal with the strife

Like it or not death comes to all in three different ways

Sudden, short suffering, & long suffering, with no delays

Everyone prays for a quick end, to which I don’t agree

I pray for a short suffering , so I have time to repent and be free

I could care less about this body, it is only a vehicle for my soul

All the gorgeous bodies have become dust, soul survives sole

I want Maola Burhanuddin’s daaman firm in my hands when I die

He is my Maola here and there, Naaeb-e-Imam  & haq na Dai

May he live healthy and happy ta roz-e-Qiyamat

His name should be last on my lips after Panjatan and Imam Tayyeb
