Our Markaz
All
religions have communities big and small
our small community, I think, is best of 'em all
supposedly, we go to markaz for majlis and to pray
but we do much more than that, if I am allowed to say
we throw garbage everywhere inside and out
it is our markaz after all, who is going to shout
we plug up the commodes with throw-away diapers
either forget to flush or stuff the commodes with papers
we turn-on AC and lights as soon as we come in
it is someone else's job to turn 'em off we are assumin'
blaring car alarms, honking, or talking loud in the parking lot
to be caring and social, that is the only place we got
why should we invite momin's kids to our house to play
we will end up cleaning afterwards, they meet at the markaz any way
Aamil saheb and aayaans keep telling us to behave responsibly
We are already responsible at home and work, how can we be at markaz possibly
They also say we are not being very neighborly
Neighbors gaya choolha ma, they are complaining constantly
Now they are talking about building a brand new masjid
That's great, now our kids will have the run of the markaz and the masjid
And we will have more areas to throw garbage in and clutter
And a bigger parking lot to make noise and idle chatter
Allah please tell these aayaans to chill out a little
We refuse to grow up and be responsible, please don't belittle
May Allah help our Aamil saheb and aayaans with this masjid project
As usual we will keep praying,"our Dai to live long and healthy ta qiyamat".
