The World Alliance of Word Affiliates has several chapters, and more are being added as AFFILLIATE FACILITATORS come forth and add their community, municipality, state or nation to the movement.
The headquarters for World Alliance of Word Affiliates (WaWa) is located in Ashland Wisconsin USA, and the affiliates name there is the Chequamegon Word Affiliate, named for the National Forest and Bay on Lake Superior.
We meet for a Writer's Workshop at 6 p.m. each Wednesday at the Ashland Book Cooperative, also known as the Ashland Underground, 220 W. Main St., Ashland WI 54806.
We are currently working on our first edition of Chequamegon Journal: Writings from the Forest and Bay, and hope to publish Chequamegon Journal on a regular basis.
Submit poetry, short fiction and art work to journalblog@charter.net. Do not send attachments. If work must be submitted in a format other than the body of your e-mail, inquire by e-mail and we will make the appropriate arrangements.
No submissions will be considered without a return mailing address and phone number for verification purposes. Under some circumstances, we will take submissions from writers and artists who may have no phone number, in which case arrangements will be made. Inquire by e-mail for these exceptions.
The World Alliance of Word Affiliates promotes writing and writers along no boundaries and within no borders. As independent organizations, we only ask that the free expression of thought and art is to be advocated and encouraged.
In 'defense of poetry' Shelly wrote: Poets are the interpreters of sacred mysteries, the mirrors of the gigantic shadows which futurity casts upon the present, the words which express what they understand not, the influence which is moved not, but moves.
In the words of founding leader Alexander Day of Denver..."I don't care if your a Christian, Buddist, Muslim, Hindu...There is only one religion, the religion of love! There is only one language, the language of the heart! There is only one God omnipresent! In you and me: here, there and everywhere!
The World alliance of Word affiliates supports gatherings of writers, artists and musicians throughout the World, and Wordists throughout the World will welcome fellow Wordists and encourage brothers and sisters everywhere to join in the fellowship of creativity.
We support the free flow of information about all topics, remembering what Ezra Pound exclaimed: "Poetry is news that stays news."
