combat battle aircraft
EF 082 Wind Channel Model
As soon as WWII began, it became obvious, that the use of battle aircraft for the support of ground units
is essential. It became also obvious, that the Junkers Ju87 Stuka had several
insufficencies, which needed to be solved. One approach was the Ju187, which was still based on the Ju87 and
which mostly addressed the aerodynamical problems of the Ju87. A second approach was a competely new battle
aircraft design, which was started as EF-65 in 1939. The EF65 was a single seated
battle aircraft with a BMW801.

The EF-82 was a further developement step of the EF65. Instead of the BMW engine
this design was equipped with a Jumo 214 engine, which was a secret Junkers developement
without backing of the RLM. The design also showed a lot of design improvements like a retractable undercarriage and
an inside bomb compartement for 1000kg bomb load. The EF82 was also designed for aircraft carrier missions, i.e.
for the "Graf Zeppelin".
Except the engine design, no further data for the EF82 or EF65 are available. It is not known, if the design
was offered to the RLM.
