August 17, 2001: Hey everybody! Thanks for checking out my website! I'm in Boulder, Colorado right now at the Gavin Triple AAA Radio Convention. It's very exciting to meet the actual people that run the radio stations--imagine 1,000's of die-hard music lovers all in one beautiful mountainous place. It was really moving actually, to realize how much these people love and care about music, devoting their whole lives to it. I'm the same way, and it's always nice to meet people with the same obsessions. Maybe I should check out those X-Files conventions, too! :) Last night, I got to see Ryan Adams and the Cranberries. They were both so great; it made me very hungry to perform live--I can't wait for my own show on the 30th in NYC. Everything seems to be moving very fast now--I try to remind myself to slow down and enjoy it. Last night, while watching the Cranberries perform all of their hits from the past ten years, and watching how much sheer frickin' joy there was in the audience, everyone jumping around going crazy--it seemed like making music and performing it for people must be the best thing in the world. I can't think of anything that unites us more as human beings than music. I know that might sound simple or ridiculous--but isn't it true? And then I think of someone hearing my song on the radio, and maybe feeling how I felt when I wrote it, reflecting on their own life--what could be better than that, really?--we two strangers having that moment together? Man, I am turning into such a pussy. har har. But really, how great is that? So today, life is good. |
