Class Discussion :

1.      Discuss whether it is right to add preservatives to foods. Teachers can divide the class into two groups : Pro-preservatives and anti-preservatives. Each group should think of all the reasons to support their stance.

For example, for pro-preservatives, consider

                                                        i.    the present food supply situation, food distribution, and food availability

                                                      ii.    how food preservatives can increase world food supply, relieve or prevent famine in times of drought etc.

For anti-preservatives, consider

                                                    iii.    how food preservatives can affect our health

                                                     iv.    the advantages of eating fresh foods, etc.
