Suspected Unauthorized Structures in Amoy Gargens, Ngau Tau Kok

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a resident of Amoy Gardens. I write to enquire about the suspected unauthorized structures constructed in the podium of Amoy Gardens, Ngau Tau Kok. I have attached below with 7 pictures and map showing the location of those 7 suspected unauthorized structures. I have the following questions and I hope that you can reply to me in due course by email, thank you very much:-

1.          whether those 7 structures are unauthorised structures? Is it legally acceptable?

2.          If yes, why they can be legally acceptable? What is the procedure to apply for legally acceptable by the Authority? Is the Authority adopting the same criteria to define whether legal acceptable to such structures and structures above roof of private premises?

3.          If no, what will the Authority do to these structures?

4.          Who is the owner(s) of those structures? Will they cause danger to nearby residents?

Dear Sir/Madam,

Amoy Garden, 77 Ngan Tau Kok Road

I refer to your e-Mails dated 30.11.2000 & 19.1.2001 containing a complaint about unauthorized building works (UBWs) at the above premises.

The UBWs have been inspected by staff of this Department.  With the resources available this Department cannot deal with all the UBWs at the same time, but has to concentrate on those that are new and/or pose imminent life and limb hazards.  It is my assessment, on the basis of this inspection, that the UBWs in your complaint do not come under the above categories and therefore I do not propose to take immediate action at the present time.

The UBWs in your complaint and others that may be found in the building have been recorded for future reference and will be kept under review.  Should there be a change in circumstances, appropriate action will be considered.

An advisory letter would be sent to the owner of the premises to organise removal of the UBWs voluntarily.

Yours faithfully,

(C. M. TANG)
