Macbeth

Macbeth is one of the four greatest tragedies written by William Shakespeare, the most intelligent and greatest play writers for centuries. The play is about the fall from high to low of Macbeth, beginning from the three prophecies giving by three witches to Macbeth in a storm. The three prophecies are Macbeth will become the Thane of Cawdor and the king of Scotland, in additional to, nobody who born of women can be able to harm him respectively. These prophecies come true eventually. However, in return, Macbeth murdered people step by step, to a level that he doesnˇ¦t even know what he is doing. At the end, Macbeth committed suicide and everything restores in peace.

There are many themes in the play. Yet, these themes are expressed in a special way, neither stating a thesis statement nor being delivered in the very first paragraph. They are uttered through the plot and the subtext, that is, evil or good (witches and Banquo), loyalty and love (Lady Macbeth), hypocrisy (Macbeth), justices, ambitious, relationships and kingships etc. Among those theses, the main and central idea of the play is ambition, which can be both positive and negative to some extent. All these elements are linked by a component that is supernatural, starting from the beginning to the ending scene.

The organization and style of the play is the simplest, shortest but the most sophisticated among the four tragedies.  As the story is mainly focus in Macbeth himself, rather than having other subplot as a contrast or to describe the main character. Everything is straightforward. This, therefore, increases the intensity of the story, in order to bring out a more powerful effect when delivering the messages, evil and ambition. The play makes up by 5 acts, and further divided into scenes, which is a traditional approach of writing plays. It gives reader a more friendly approach when reading the play.

It is an excellent play that I strongly recommend, especially beginners who first start reading plays, as itˇ¦s the easiest play written by William Shakespeare. Through reading the book, youˇ¦ll learn lots of human vanities that you may not noticed in daily life. Also, you may discover the hidden side of you through reading it, so as to have a better understanding of yourself.
