Qing He shows up at Shan Cai’s house in an equally comical dressing. They decide to go to Jing’s birthday anyway. 

Meanwhile, Li Zhen cannot decide if she should go to Jing’s party. She is very happy about the dress that Shan Cai had given to her. 

On arrival at her house, Shan Cai, Xiao You and Qing He were in awe of the grandeur of the party. Xiao You sees celebrities among the guests and Qing He gets all excited. He runs off to get their autographs. Shan Cai spots Ah Si among the guests and hides.  

Xi Men sees the 2 girls and welcomes them. He calls out to Ah Si to let him know that Shan Cai has arrived. However, Ah Si walks away. Shan Cai is disgusted. Meanwhile, Xi Men tries to chat Xiao You up and Shan Cai frantically stops him from going any further. She warns Xiao You to stay away from Xi Men as he is a playboy. However, Xiao You is smitten with him and comments that Ah Si is very cool too. Shan Cai tells her that whoever is associated with the F4 will be very unlucky. 

Jing and her father make a grand entrance. The party officially begins and Jing has her first dance with Lei. Shan Cai’s heart aches as she sees the gentleness in Lei’s eye as he dances with Jing. Meanwhile, a model approaches Ah Si and asks him why he has not called her for quite a while. He looks at Shan Cai and shrugs the model off. 

Shan Cai decides to sit at the lounge for a drink. She meets Mei Zuo, who is drinking alone. He does not like such functions and dismisses everyone at such party as hypocrites.  

Li Zhen arrives at the party in the dress that Ah Si had given Shan Cai originally. Ah Si sees her in the dress and is extremely upset. He confronts Li Zhen and says that she’s too ugly to be in that dress which he bought. He orders her to leave immediately. A devastated Li Zhen leaves the party. Xiao You and Qing He goes after her. 

In the meantime, Shan Cai drinks too much and gets drunk. 

Jing makes her birthday speech. She announces that she does not want to be a protected child anymore. Having decided to go back to France to obtain her doctorate, she proclaims that she will forever serve the poor and may not come back anymore. She wants to go after her own dreams and build her own future. With that, she snips off a lock of her hair. Everyone is shocked at her decision. An upset Lei leaves the scene. 

Shan Cai leaves the scene and sees Ah Si talking to a boss of a small company. Apparently, the small company is about to be closed down and if Ah Si’s father were to help it out, it will be able to sustain its business. In a condescending manner, Ah Si sarcastically tells him that he is in no position to decide and shrugs the boss off. The disgusted boss walks away and comments that Ah Si is as heartless as his father.  

The drunk Shan Cai bums into Ah Si and she reprimands him for his attitude towards the boss. He claims that this is how it is in the cold business world and tells her she wouldn’t understand. She scolds him for playing with the model’s feelings. However, he tells her firmly that he will not like such girls as they are all trying to get close to him only because of his money. She rebukes him for not apologizing to her over the incident (where he nearly forced himself on her) and suddenly vomits all over his suit. She faints. 

The next morning, Shan Cai wakes up feeling groggy. Her mother tells her excitedly that Ah Si had brought her home. She shows Shan Cai a schedule, which she has drawn up, depicting how Shan Cai (a crow) is going to turn into a “phoenix” – metaphor for a rich girl. She orders Shan Cai to apologize to Ah Si for puking into his suit. Shan Cai recalls the night’s happenings and wonders how Lei is feeling. 

In school, Shan Cai sees Lei and sits down beside him. She urges him to stop Jing from leaving. However, he knows that once Jing’s decision is made, she will not change her mind no matter who tries to stop her. Thus, Lei is going to let her leave. Shan Cai wonders if Lei’s heart will leave together with Jing and whether anything will happen between Lei and herself. Disgusted at her own thoughts, Shan Cai runs off. 

She sees Jing leaving the school and begs her to stay on account of Lei. She tells Jing that she does not wish for Lei to be heartbroken forever. Jing tells her its impossible and she will not change her mind. Desperate, Shan Cai goes down on her knees and begs her not to leave Lei. However, Jing maintains that she does not want to regret not going after her dreams and tells her she will definitely leave. Lei sees everything and flares up at Shan Cai for doing such a stupid thing. He chases her away. 

A troubled Lei goes to the pull-up bars to hang himself upside down. He remembers that Jing used to tell him that doing so would stop the tears from flowing. 

At the airport, everyone, except Lei, is there to send Jing off. Mei Zuo and Xi Men try to locate Lei but to no avail. In the meantime, Qing He asks to see the present that Ah Si is wrapping for Jing. It turned out to be a “practical joke” gift, meant to play a prank on Jing. Shan Cai wished that Lei could have at least half of Ah Si’s innocence, so that he would not be so troubled. She asked Ah Si if he ever liked anyone before. She says that perhaps liking someone is to be unselfish, to let him/her go, to let him/her do whatever he wanted to do, although by doing so, one may hurt one's own feelings. However, Ah Si disagrees and feels that that is extremely stupid. If it was he in the situation, he will definitely fight for his love. Shan Cai is awakened by Ah Si’s innocent reply and comments that perhaps Ah Si is not that stupid. 

Jing is leaving but Lei still has not arrived. After she disappears behind the customs, Lei appears. Shan Cai yells at him for being a useless bum. She feels that if he really liked her, he should go after her. She tells him that because the four of them has always been so protected, none of them has the courage to go after what they want even as Jing has bravely gone to seek her dreams. Lei reveals that he is taking he next flight to France. He tells Shan Cai that he really likes her personality. It is her who made him realize that waiting is not going to solve the problem. There will only be hope when he actually does something about it. Shan Cai is happy for him, yet sad that he is leaving and remisnces on their past. 

The F3 (F4 without Lei), Qing He and Shan Cai watches the plane takes off. They are impressed that Shan Cai has managed to influence Lei into leaving. Mei Zuo and Xi Men cannot really understand the rational behind it as they thought that Shan Cai likes Lei. However, Ah Si thinks otherwise. He asks Shan Cai out but the planes taking off drowned his voice. 

F3 is having a drink at the pub. Ah Si is reading a book on “dates”. 

The next day, Shan Cai is thinking about Lei when she runs into Ah Si. He tells her to meet at a park at 2pm on Sunday. Qing He accidentally blurts out that Shan Cai is “his” and runs off feeling embarrassed. She is confused. 

The next day, Shan Cai is shopping at the supermarket with her mother at 230pm. It is raining and she wonders if Ah Si is still waiting for her. At the cashier, Shan Cai runs off to find Ah Si. 

Ah Si waits in the rain for Shan Cai. Even as passersby offer him an umbrella, he shouts at them. Shan Cai approaches him and he is all worked up as he has waited for 4 hours. She tells him that he could have gone home but he replies that she did not even call him and he was worried that something happened to her on the way. Shan Cai feels guilty and offers to treat him to tea.  

On reaching the café, the two of them starts squabbling again. Shan Cai pulls him to the staircase. The two of them cools down at the staircase. Shan Cai tells him that she could treat him to tea at a cheaper place. However, they find that the doors are locked and they are unable to leave. As they climb down the building, they realized that all the doors are locked. Tired, they sit down on the floor. 

When Shan Cai talks to Ah Si, he does not reply. She thinks that he is angry as it is her fault that they are in such a predicament. She remembers the time (again) when he tried to force himself on her. When he crawls toward her, she screams and moves away from him. However, he does not try to do anything and collapses on the floor. She realizes that Ah Si has fallen ill from having sat in the rain the whole day. She lets him sleep on her lap and covers him with her jacket to keep him warm. He feels happy. 

The next morning, the cleaner comes in and chases them out. 

When Shan Cai goes home, she gets a big scolding from her mother for not returning home that night. However, when she finds out that nothing has happened, she is relieved and happily thinks that Shan Cai had a romantic night out with Ah Si. Shan Cai feels comforted that although she is poor, her parents are very concerned about her. However, she remembers that Ah Si is all alone in his mansion and wonders if he is all right. 

The next morning, all of Shan Cai’s schoolmates congratulate her. Apparently, a picture of Shan Cai supporting the sick Ah Si outside the building has been pasted on the notice board, thus revealing that Shan Cai and Ah Si dated. In class, even when the teacher asks Shan Cai a question and she replies with a stupid answer, the teacher still praises her. Qian Hui and Bai He are extremely nice to Shan Cai. They insist on having lunch with her.
