An afternoon at Holiday Inn's Restaurant
¡@
Located in Tsim Sha Tsui on Nathan road which is perpendicular to the Peking Road, the Holiday Inn Hotel¡¦s restaurant was situated right in front of the Royal Sporting House. This expensive, well furnished and wonderful restaurant was designed by a young American male architect that I don¡¦t remember his name. When I arrived in this restaurant, I was guided by a colossal waiter who hasn¡¦t slept well I can tell for few days because of his huge dark rings under his miniature eyes and who has got a 5 cm long scar on his neck. He took me to the window seats next to the buffet terrace filled up with satisfying international food.
It was so uncomfortable putting my gorgeous and irresistible body on this dirty broken dark brown little stool because I couldn¡¦t lean back so I started to complain abruptly. Plus, I was stuck between two individuals, on my left side was a 47 year old man, Tony, my daddy. He was concentrating on his Chinese newspaper and was trying to translate it into French, for me his 18 year old knowledgeable daughter. Those thousand of Chinese characters that his eyes were deciphering one by one were making me dizzy. So I interrupted my father impolitely by saying ¡§Dad I don¡¦t care about the news, ok, would you please keep your mouth shut for a while ?¡¨.
On my right side was a 6 years old ugly monster named Adrian, the kid of my dad¡¦s friend, pretty dwarf for his age with quite a chubby face. He was terribly obese that his Tommy Hilfiger¡¦s dungarees seemed as if they were going to blow up. He didn¡¦t look cute at all, maybe because I couldn¡¦t stand him, he was getting on my nerves and was embarrassing me. I¡¦ve never seen such an annoying and naughty human being in my life. Yelling, shouting, screaming, jumping everywhere just like a tiny microbe looking forward to bite people. I wanted so badly to grab his chopsticks, push them strongly and violently into his stinky ass, then order him to leave the place as fast as he can in order to get some peaceful and silent atmosphere.
We haven¡¦t eaten yet, we were waiting for the whole people to come, and it showed 2:15 PM on my Guess watch when I called my mother to check where she was. I was nearly starving to death, just like a woman who hasn¡¦t eaten and drunk for ages. And who was also lost the middle of a South Arabia desert, drowning in the white sand same as the winter snow and hoping to find an island with fresh coconuts. It seems that I was daydreaming by saying this but as soon as I saw a romantic sweet couple who was sitting close in the bar at the entrance of the restaurant. From that time on, I started to imagine them as me and my hottie boyfriend. The two inseparable lovers ones were waiting for the bartender, a well built African around 1.90m, to serve them I guess. They looked pretty wealthy. The elegant woman was pretty high class and was wearing a blue pair of Christian Dior sunglasses and was holding a new Louis Vuitton red rectangular bag approximately 35 cm high and 27cm length, which might cost billion and billion dollars. It was just as big as my red bag that I bought in Mong Kok Ladies Market but of course mine was cheaper. The diamonds on her necklace were shining and sparkling like the brilliant stars in the obscure late night sky. It was so obvious they were not typical Chinese people according to the way they acted. She pretended to be shy, but suddenly, she leaned over her handsome man, with his sexy smile that could turn any female insane. Then tapped him on the butt and kissed him slowly and passionately. Not a little peck, but a full-blown French kiss. The man was sweating not because of the way she gently touched him but because of the lack of air conditioning in the room. Their kiss lasted for ages¡K¡§Oh my god, that¡¦s so sweet !!!¡¨ I murmured. I envied them so much, the more I was looking at them, the more I was wishing the woman to be me and the man to be my boyfriend who is actually in Nantes in the south of France, visiting his brother¡K But on the other hand, it also disgusted me to watch them deeply tongue kissing, holding each other tight, and living happily in love.
Therefore, I decided to focus on somebody else, so I sat alone on another table because my dad booked two tables. I picked someone who probably would have a lot more to describe about. I chose a bald elderly man. He must be about 80 years old and he seemed to be an old teacher from the Chinese University. He was sipping his coffee and eating his crackers and seemed very puzzled
for a moment when he began to look for his keys. I noticed he had dropped them on the floor and walked to his direction and helped him pick them up. He had this enormous smile as I looked at him and picked up the keys for him. He repeatedly said in English, ¡§thank you dear.¡¨ As I continued, observing him returning to my place, my mind began to drift. The assumption I made was that he is retired, maybe not married and wants some entertainment in his life. He looked like a prestigious man. His outfit was pretty charming for his age : a sky blue medium size shirt, black suspenders with white dots, a light pink bow tie and finally, a pair of blue navy trousers that matched with his top. His cute, dark round glasses, which were slightly taped on the side looked like the Hollywood movie star Dustin Hoffman¡¦s ones that he used in the movie ¡§Pappillon¡¨. His shoes seemed old, but he was probably like my grandfather who always likes his oldest pair of shoes because they were the most comfortable. From his left pocket of his trouser, I saw he took out his gold lighter and his red pack of Malboro cigarettes just like the ones my grandfather usually smokes. He had a funny way to smoke, when he inserted his cigarette in his mouth, he closed his eyes and when he took it out he opened them. He repeated several time this. I found it very weird. The smoke suffocated his neighbour who was coughing to death because he was in a non smoking area¡K what a stupid old man !!! Than I concluded that it was great to actually sit and observe someone, you can get a lot of it without actually knowing it.
After a while, my mom , brother and other family members finally arrived. Back to my habitual seat, I couldn¡¦t resist any longer. I ran straight away to the buffet terrace and grabbed like a gangster every food that I love at first sight. I took a tempting multi layered chocolate cake, a selection of mouth watering caramelised fruit, a helping of superb restaurant made apple crumble just like my aunt¡¦s youngest sister used to make, an exquisite savoury pancake stuffed with delicious stir-fried vegetables. And finally I ordered a bowl of fabulous fresh water crayfish served in a white wine sauce for my entree.
Instead of savouring my food slowly, I was devouring them cruelly like a wild boar.
