Recalling to what I have done during the semester break according to my plan for future improvement in English. I, first, have written down few notes on several piece of paper which all ordered me to spend at least two to three hours in reading, listening and writing in English per day : ¡§Lina ! You Must Read Today !¡¨ ; ¡§Lina ! Don¡¦t forget to revise your VOCABULARY !¡¨etc... Then I have stuck these messages in my room. I know that  I¡¦m a lazy girl, this was the only way to push myself and to make effort in learning ¡§Intensive English¡¨. I only read magazines because that's the only thing I love to read, all the articles that I have gone through dealt with all kinds of domains such as economy, politics, entertainments¡K But most of them were from teenagers magazines .

I have problems in comprehension reading ( that¡¦s why I failed the ELC exam in reading). I did exercises to solve this issue but it didn¡¦t seem working well. Now I¡¦m taking ELC course and I¡¦m trying to do well for the coming exam. Besides, the biggest difficulty that always remains is often based on vocabularies. There are too much new word that I encounter everyday, it's quite hard for me to memorize the word itself in order to use it in the future and to remember its meanings.

However, I kept a vocabulary notebook which I went over every week during the semester break. I didn¡¦t stop at every unfamiliar word and drop it down. Instead, I underlined all the new words and looked for their definitions after my reading. Because I wanted to see if I could understand the whole thing in general before doing my research by stopping at any new words. Of course, I didn't write down all the words¡¦ definitions in my notebook but I wrote words that I expected would be useful for me in the future. I am still doing this now.

Concerning writing, to be honest, I didn't write much over this semester break. I just wrote emails and signed up guest books on my friends¡¦ homepages. The way I wrote is just the way I spoke, that is to say "standard" English, kind of ¡§colloquial¡¨ English. Nevertheless, I did some grammar exercises about tenses and phrasal verbs, but I¡¦m still a little bite confused in using them.

Finally, listening to English isn¡¦t a big problem for me, I go to the movies at least twice a week and I watch English TV series, emissions or movies every nights. I don¡¦t understand or hear every word they pronounce but I am capable of summarizing the story.
