Eminem出生在貧窮家庭, 從小隨著母親流離失所, 直到12 歲在Detroit東邊安定下來, 就 讀 當地的高中 ,但中途措學,Eminem在訪問中提到 "I tried to go back to school five years ago, but I couldn't do it. I just wanted to rap and be a star one day." 阿姆並在幾個團體中擔任 譊舌一員, 如 Basement Prod uctions, the New Jacks, 和 D12(D-12 的團員包括 Eminem 和其他五位Dtroit團員,包括: Konartis, Bizarre, Proof, Swifty, and Kuniva. ). 1997年阿姆單飛,發行專輯Infinite,97年底阿姆贏得1997 Wake Up Show Freestyle Per former of the Year from L.A. DJs Sway and Tech,並穫得 Rap Sheet 雜誌 所頒發年度 freestyle rap"Rap Olympics" 中第二名. 1998年發行The Slim Shady EP ,歌詞中充滿 諷刺意謂, 訪問 中說到"Slim Shady is the evil side of me, the sarcastic, foul-mouthed side of me," 這張EP讓阿姆成為地下音樂 的紅歌手, 並多次 受邀在其他 歌手專輯中演出, 並受到 Dr. Dre注視, Dr. Dre很快的 簽下阿姆. 1999年初 "My Name Is …" 音樂錄影帶受到世界注意, 隨即發行The Slim Shady LP, 並登上Billboard專輯 排行榜上 第三名. 同時贏得多項大獎, 包括MTV 音樂錄影帶最佳 新人獎, 最佳譊舌專輯葛萊美獎, 阿姆曾在訪談中說到 "I do feel like I'm coming from a standpoint where people don't realize there are a lot of poor white people, Rap music kept my mind off all the bulls--t I had to go through." 2000年發行第三張個人專輯, The Marshall Mathers LP, 很快的 在第一個禮拜 已有1.76萬張的銷售成績, 銷售成績僅次於 'N Sync. 而同時也有負面新聞:被親身母親 提出訴訟, 涉嫌攜帶 違禁手槍被 逮捕,妻子企圖自殺..等. 不管任何負面新聞, Eminem依然是擁有大批歌迷,歌迷心中的譊舌歌王 Eminem並再次與D12重回合作關係, 進行Devil's Night錄音發行 。EMINEM
