Airmanship after flight
Once the pilot
has landed the aircraft, he taxies off the end of the runway onto the taxiway.
He then stops and completes his after landing checks, including such items as
raising flaps, turning off necessary navigation equipment, and checking brake
pressures.
Once the
aircraft is safe on the ASP the engine is shut down the wheels are choked. The
pilot completes the log, entering details of the flight duration, maneuvers
performed, and any unserviceabilities.
The ground
crew then turn round the aircraft, rectifying any faults reported by the pilot.
Basic
knowledge of airmanship
1.)Airfield,
Aerodrome and Airport
|
Airfield飛機場 |
an area of land
used for landing and take off of aircraft excluding buildings and
installations. |
|
Aerodrome飛機場 |
a defined area of
land or water, including buildings and installations, used for the landing
and take off of aircraft. |
|
Airport飛機場 |
An aerodrome
which handles international air traffic and therefore has a custom,
immigration and other passenger and baggage handling facilities. |
2.)Runway
facilities and marking
|
Runway跑道 |
a specially prepared
surface along which aircraft takes off and lands. |
|
Air
Strip臨時跑到 |
a strip of ground for
the use of aircraft especially one made for use in war or in an emergency. |
|
Runway Shoulders |
a strip about 90 feet
wide leveled, cleared and hardened on each side for emergency landing. |
|
Taxiway滑行道 |
access for aircraft to
and from the runway. |
3.)Runway
Markings
|
Runway Threshold
Markings
跑道指示標識 |
a series of white strips parallel to the runway. |
|
Runway
Centre Line
Markings
跑道中線 |
a broken white line and parallel to the runway. |
|
Runway Number |
a 2-digit number at each end o the runway showing the
magnetic bearing of the centre line of the runway as seen from the direction
of the approach, nearest whole number. When this direction gives a single
digit, it is proceeded by "0". The difference in bearing between two ends is
always 180 degrees. |
|
Holding Point
等候標識 |
an area for pilot to wait for the final clearance for
take off. Rudder-base paints ensure that markings resist the abrasion of the
aircraft wheels. |
4.)Airport
Facilities
|
Windsock風向袋 |
a
visual guide to wind direction. When the sock is horizontal, the wind speed
is 25-30 knots. |
|
Apron停機坪(室外) |
adjoins the terminal and aircraft parking and servicing bays for aircraft
ground movement and parking. |
|
Terminal機場大樓 |
a
building containing restaurants, shops, immigration, customs and other
facilitate and handle passengers and baggage. |
5.)Aerodrome
and Approach Controllers
|
Aerodrome Controllers |
Usually work in a glass
control cabin at the top of the Control Tower. Responsible for aircraft
moving on the ground within the airfield and aircraft taking off, landing
and in the circuit. |
|
Approach Controllers |
operate from another
position in the Tower where radio and radar aids are provided to assist
them. Responsible for aircraft which have cleared the circuit. |
