Aims
1. simulate interest in studying of past;
2. promote acquisition of knowledge & understanding of human activities in the past, relating to present;
3. encourage....use of historical evidence;
4. to promote an understanding of concepts of cause & consequence; continuity & change; similarity & difference;
5. to develop essential study skills such as the ability to locate & extract information from historical sources; to detect bias; to analyse historical information & to construct a logical argument;
6. to provide ...basis for further study...
Objectives (of exam)...to test:
1. knowledge & understanding of major events & trends that have shaped the modern world ;
2. ability to recall, evaluate & select knowledge...in a clear...form;
3. ability to recognize & make use of concepts of cause & consequence; continuity & change; similarity & difference;
4. ability to look at events...from perspective of people in the past;
5. ability to interpret & evaluate historical evidence...;
6. discuss issues facing contemporary world;
7. appreciate reasons taken by man & ways of interaction with environment;
8. develop skills related to collection, analysis & interpretation of data which may be derived from sources such as fieldwork, maps, photos, statistics & written materials; &
9. use data to present information in short answers & reports, develop arguments both in written form & illustrate by drawing maps, diagrams & graphs.
