Tsing Ma Bridge / Lantau
Link / Tung Kau Bridge
Lantau Link was opened to traffic in May 1997, linking Lantau Island, Ma
Wan and Tsing Yi Island with the Airport and the rest of the territory. It
comprises two bridges, where Tsing Ma Bridge on Ma Wan Channel is the
world's longest road and rail suspension bridges with a main span of 1377
meters and a total length of 2.2 kilometres, and also the main part of the
Lantau Link. The other is Kap Shui Mun Bridge on Kap Shui Mun Channel,
which is one of the world¡¦s longest span cable-stayed bridge carrying
both road and rail traffic.
Beside that, you can find Ting Kau Bridge next to Tsing Ma Bridge. It is a
1.1 kilometres long span cable-stayed bridge for road traffic, and a
section on Route 3 that links the northern part of the New Territories
with the city. The outstanding features of this bridge are the 3 towers on
both sides and the middle of Rambler Channel.
These three bridges are not only an important infrastructure for the land
transportation, but also becomes a prominent landmark in Hong Kong. The
best way to visit the bridges is travelling by our Cityflyer or Northern
Lantau routes to across the bridge. You can experience the grand scenic
views on the way, and then the beautiful scenery on Lantau Island and also
the great facilities at the airport.
