新加坡國立大學學生 -- Charles

The encounter that I had with the visiting City University of Hong Kong students was a very wonderful and memorable experience. When I first met them in the National University of Singapore (NUS), all of us managed to break the ice almost immediately. The Hong Kong students were all very sociable and friendly. This made it very comfortable and enjoyable for me to interact with them and get to know them though they were there for a short time. Interaction was well facilitated as we had English as a common language medium, hence we could understand one another easily.

I was delighted to meet them again to bring them shopping in Orchard Road and then dinner at Lau Pa Sat. This was also the day that I had a chance to talk and have fun with them. We managed to know one another better and also about the different lives that we lead as young people in Hong Kong and Singapore. It was very entertaining and funny as we cracked a lot of jokes and took a lot of funny photos.

I was very happy to know all of them and I wish that we could all keep the friendship going strong although we live far apart from one another. I would definitely like to see all of them again if they come to Singapore in the future or if I visit Hong Kong. Thank you, friends of Hong Kong for the wonderful experience.

Dear all,

Well.. You guys were really an incredible bunch of people... when you all first arrived at the airport... the first person I noticed was Bee and Mandy because Mandy was so small and cute while Bee was so tall... haha.. It was quite funny... as I was staying outside waiting for you guys to come out I was wondering how I was going to greet you or how I was going to try to communicate with you guys... in true fact I was actually worried.. Haha I was scared I would not be able to make you guys feel comfortable in Singapore... but when you guys all came out... I was surprised at how friendly you guys were... haha... and I realized that I did not have to worry anything at all... because all of you were so nice and when you guys found out that I could not speak Cantonese.. You all spoke English and Chinese to me instead of just leaving me one side. I really appreciated that. haha.. And I got to admit although I didn't understand some things that was said... I still felt equally close to you guys... I remember the first person that I got to know better was Christina.. Because we were in the first going to our first destination. Then I sat beside her and talked to her. Haha it was quite nice... it’s like we were talking as in we knew each other a long time ago... anyway... I owe someone a lot in your group. And that is Kathy... haha... if you can still remember... Kathy was always that to translate what was being said in Cantonese... you can never imagine how grateful and touched I was... because... I told her... never mind its okay... don't want to trouble her to keep translating for me.. But no... Instead she told me... its okay... I can practice my English at the same time... when I heard that... I really admire her... and I was really very touched...

Well... I got to admit that you guys have very good attitudes.. Because you all know when is play and when is work... like for example... bee... bee is very hardworking... he will play with us too but when he comes across something that involves his work he will ask question and we will try our best to answer him.. I really admire this attitude... cause I have to confess that if I play too much I will tend to forget my work... hehe... so yupz...
But of course not only bee.. All of you are also very hardworking... because when I see you all do your projects and when you are having your debrief with Mr
. Mok... I can see that you guys will become serious in your work... I guess that is really something that I have to learn from your guys...

Oh yar... one thing to comment about you guys.. You guys did great in your presentation. And I must say that me and Joyce were very proud of you guys... you know why? Because in Singapore we have this saying... [Things do not always turn out the way we want it to be... so we have to make the best out of it when we face a problem] Well... you guys did it... because... u thought that when you go to the University... all the equipments will be there... and all you have to do is to present... but never did you expect that something will go wrong with the equipment.. But you guys made the best out of it... you did some re-arrangement... and asked the group that did not need PowerPoint to go first to present... while some of you tried to fix the computer... when I saw that I was really proud of you.. Because you guys met a problem but you settled it fast and continued with your presentation...

Maybe you guys were a bit scared when it was your turn to present... but trust me this is your first time so there is always room for improvement... I’m sure.. The university students have given you guys some points to think about... so I hope you guys have learnt some things in Singapore... and most importantly I hope you guys will come back to Singapore soon okay?

You guys were really great to be with... I really enjoyed myself with you... study hard... work hard... and play hard yah? Take Care!!! *Hugs*

Lots a Love..
