A Rainy School Day
¡@
The sky was full of grey clouds this morning, it was getting darker and darker. It seemed that it was going to rain at any time. People on the street walked in a hurry.
A 24-seat school van left a strip at the front gate of a primary school in Duke Street. The bearded driver hurried those pupils in the van to get off as fast as possible since the bell would ring within a few minutes. All those little ants queued in the lines, 2 by 2, hand in hand, stepping off the van. A tiny pupil, who was wearing a name badge ¡§Alex¡¨ on his white shirt, suddenly ran back to the van which started to leave. He knocked on the entrance to get the attention of the driver. That bearded unwillingly opened the door and Alex glanced round everywhere and found that he had left his lunch box on his seat. He held it in his little arms very tightly as if it would escape.
When Alex returned to his group of classmates in the covered-playground near the front gate, rain came down in torrents. Parents and teachers, who were waiting outside the gate, were either looking for shelters or opening their umbrellas. Those who had nothing were asking others to share umbrellas with them.
¡§Natalie¡¨, written on her name badge, a girl who looked thin was holding her colourful umbrella¡Xpink, sky blue, purple, yellow, white and green, standing at in front of the gate. She looked very nervous, her blue-eyes swam with tears, biting her lips from time to time. Surprisingly, a big smile appeared on her pinky-face when she saw a young teenager carrying a drawing box running towards her in the heavy rain.
Natalie melted into tears, she gave her colourful umbrella to the young teenager who had been caught in rain. Then she took a grip on the box and ran happily back to the hall that crowded with pupils.
A silver-grey Benz stopped at the front gate. An elegant woman, who wearing a black suit and with all her hair wounded up at the back, stepped out off the driving seat and opened the back-door. A fat child was having a sound sleep inside the car. His mother took off his seat belt and gently shook him by her arms, trying to wake him up. The child opened his sleepy eyes with a yawn, then moved his fatty body off the Benz. At the moment he got out, his mother was in a shock by seeing her child still wearing a pair of slippers instead of black leather shoes!
The preparation bell started to ring, ¡§Ding dong, ding dong, ding dong¡K¡¨ Those pupils who were on the way to school started to hurry their steps. A little boy who was holding his grandfather¡¦s hand started to run, however, his grandpa was too old to run fast. That little boy then got his heavy school bag and lunch box from his grandfather¡¦s hand and gave a sprint run. Before he entered the front gate, he fell into a small pool of water outside. His uniform was all wet now. His knees and hands were hurt, blood was running out from the wounds. He looked helplessly to his grandfather one to two meters away and started to cry loudly.
By 8 o¡¦clock, a teacher came out and closed the gate. At the same time, a young girl in six or seven years old caught in rain arrived by taxi. She saw the closed-gate and tried to ring the door bell. She was not tall enough to reach it although she jumped and jumped. It was useless. She looked frightened and shouted aloud, hoping teachers having assembly in the hall could hear her to open the gate for her.
A few minutes later, a beautiful and young teacher came out with a black umbrella and opened the front gate for that poor little girl and led her to the hall.
