and Death
instincts.
Life
instincts include all the forces that serve to maintain vital life processes
and ensure the propagation of species.
The sex instincts are the most salient of the life instincts for the development of personality. The energy force underlying the sexual instincts is called Libido.
Death
instincts underlie all the manifestations of cruelty, aggression,
murder and suicide. Managing this aggression drive is a
major challenging to the human race.
Freud
recognized that both sexual and aggressive drives are powerful
determinants of why people act as they do.
