Salaries Tax

 

Salaries Tax is generally imposed on individuals who derive income from any office or employment in Hong Kong, including all income related to services rendered in Hong Kong. Income from any office or employment includes wages, salary commissions, gratuities, bonuses, leave pay and pensions.

The rates of Salaries Tax currently (after deduction of personal allowances) are:

on the 1st HK$30,000

on the 2nd HK$30,000

8%

on the 3rd HK$$30,000

14%

on the remainder

:

20%

 

The total Salaries Tax payable is limited to16%  on net assessable income (before deduction of personal allowances). This limitation applies to single persons (without any other personal allowance) earning HK$770,000 or above and married couples (without any other personal allowance), earning HK$1,270,000 or above.
