Our
School¡¦s "Newcomers"
¡@
Reviewing
the first term, we find many new interest groups have been set up by some
enthusiastic students. There are many different stories behind them. To let
students have more recognition of them, we interviewed the representatives of
the Comics Party and the Photography Society.
Students
who like drawing comics established the Comics Party. It has been set up for
about half a year. The Comics Party¡¦s aim is to publish "doujinshi",
and that is self-published comics, with friends who love reading and drawing
comics. ¡¥ We usually draw draft for our comics. Sometimes we invite guests to
share; for example, we have invited San, who is a famous comic artist in Comic
Fans, one of the comic magazines in
Hong Kong
. She shared her experience of being a comic artist,¡¦ one
of their members said. They plan to publish a comic book between May and June
and take part in Comic World 18 during the summer vacation. Comic World 18 is
the largest "doujinshi" event in
Hong Kong
. A large number of co-players (people who dressed up,
imitating characters in comics, animation or games) also like to join this
event. Lastly, they said they would continue to do their duties, to achieve the
goal of publishing their own comics. Please support them and their "doujinshi"!
Another
"newcomer" is the Photography Society, which was set up by a group of
students who had great interest in taking photos. ¡¥Our main target is to
promote the arts of photography in this school. In a girls' school, not many
students are interested in this field. Most students who take photos in school
are just for recording their school life, but photography is not only for this
purpose .We want to send out a message: ¡§photography can be a mixture of art,
science and life¡¨. Now, we would like to bring this fantastic interest to our
school! ¡¦ So far, they have had a number of elementary courses to enhance
their members¡¦ photographic skill. The topics they have covered include common
photographic equipment, shutter speed, depth of field, etc. They also had a
lecture of Photo Impact to teach members how to improve photo quality by using
the computers. Besides, there was a trip to Tsim Sha Tsui, taking photos of
night views and Christmas decorations. ¡¥ For the next few months, we are going
to visit the flower exhibition, practise the techniques of using the black room
and hold a school photography competition. We will also hold a photography
exhibition in our school in May. In the exhibition, we will display some of the
excellent photos taken by our members. We would like to share our works with
other schoolmates and to arouse their interest in photography,¡¦ one of the
members claimed. ¡¥Your participation in our exhibition would surely be a great
help to our society. Please support us!¡¦
