GENERAL INFORMATION

 

 

 

CREDIT SYSTEM The college has implemented a credit system which counts towards the completion of the study programmes to enable students to pursue their studies with the highest degree of flexibility.  Students are generally required to complete a total of 130 credits.  Normally, the duration of each Higher Diploma programme extends over a period of four academic years.  However, students are eligible to apply for exemptions on the basis of their pervious academic studies recognised to be of equivalent standing and standard.  Students can choose a study load which suits their individual interest and aptitude.  However, the total number of credits which students are allowed to take in each academic year should range from twenty-three (23) minimum to thirty-nine (39) maximum.  The maximum completion period for all programmes in 6 years.

 

 

 

APPLICATION FEE

 

 

A fee of HK$60 is charged for each application for admission at the time the application is submitted.  A fee of HK$120 is charged for each late application.  Applications received after the closing date (15 September 2000) will be regarded as late applications.

 

 

 

 

 

 

TUITION FEE

 

 

In 2000-01, the tuition fee for Year 1 of all programmes is HK$28,980.  The tuition fee for Year 2 and all subsequent years is HK$32,520.  The fee should be paid in four equal installments : the first before registration, the second before 16 December 2000, the third before 1 March 2001 and the fourth before 1 May 2001.

 

 

 

 

 

STUDENTS’ UNION SUBSCRIPTION

 

 

All members of the Students’ Union are required to subscribe annually to the Union.  The annual subscription charge for the 2000-01 academic year amounts to HK$180.

 

 

 

 

 

SCHOLARSHIPS

 

A number of scholarships are awarded under the Caritas Adult and Higher Education Service (CAHES) Student Financial Aid Scheme to motivate students of each programme to pursue academic excellence.

The Student Affairs Committee of the College selects students eligible for the award.  The scholarships are awarded in the second semester of the ensuing academic year as partial payment of the tuition fee.

 

 

 

 

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR YEAR 1 STUDENTS

 

Three scholarships are awarded to students with the highest Grade Point Average (GPA)in Year 1 of their studies.

To qualify for the award of these scholarships, students must have (1) passed all courses; (2) attained at least an 80% attendance rate and (3) scored a GPA of at least 2.7 in all courses.

 

 

 

 

 

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR YEAR 2 AND YEAR 3 STUDENTS

 

 

Scholarships are awarded to students studying Year 2 and 3 of each programme.  One scholarship is awarded to each year of study on the basis of attainment of the highest annual Grade Point Average (GPA) in the core courses.  In case the number of students in any year of study exceeds thirty, a second additional scholarship will be awarded to the student attaining the second highest annual GPA in the core courses.

To qualify for the award of these scholarships, a student must have (1) passed all courses taken in the previous academic year; (2) scored a GPA of at least          2.7 in the core courses; (3) attained at least an 80% attendance rate and (4) attained the highest or the second highest annual GPA in the core courses, as the case may be.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

 

 

 

 

Financial assistance is given to students experiencing financial difficulties in the course of their studies.

 

 

 

 

 

CAMPUSES

 

The College is operating on two campuses,  Caine Road and Oxford Road.  Each campus is equipped with a library, a language laboratory and two computer laboratories to provide teaching and learning facilities.
