STUDENT SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES

 

 

 

 

COUNSELING SERVICE The Service aims at helping students to develop better self-understanding, to overcome psychological crises and emotional problems and to enhance students’ skills and knowledge in coping will various facets of life.  The Student Counseling Service addresses two major purposes: firstly, students should maintain satisfactory standards in their academic performance; secondly, they should be offered counseling assistance to ensure their balanced personal growth.  Counseling in rendered by professional counselors who are well qualified to assist students in handling their personal problems.

 

 

 

CAREER SERVICE The Student Affairs Office maintains close links with various professional and business organizations.  The Office is actively engaged in preparing students for employment through Career Talks and Counselling which focus on job search skills such as resume writing and effective interview techniques.  It arranges career talks conducted by professionals in both the public and private sectors and provides job referral services.  An annual employment survey is conducted to examine the positioning of our graduates in the labour market and evaluate the practicality of the programmes and courses offered by the College.

 

 

 

 

HEALTH SERVICE

A Student Medical Scheme organized jointly by the Student Affairs Office and the Caritas Clinics provides subsidized medical consultation to all students.  In addition, periodical talks, seminars, brochures on health education and sickness prevention are also available.  Talks on social issues such as AIDS and personal welfare are given to students to promote better understanding of the importance of physical and mental well-being.

 

 

 

RECREATION 

Students are encouraged to take park in sports and extracurricular activities for self-training and self-enrichment.  In conjunction with the Students’ Union, the Student Affairs Office organizes a variety of inter-departmental competitions which cultivate a collegiate spirit.

The Student Affairs Office manages and coordinates the College’s sports teams which represent the College in intercollegiate competitions with other tertiary institutions.  An annual athletic meet is held to enable students to develop their athletic potential.

 

 

 

 

CHAPLAINCY The College retains a close link with the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong and takes an active part in pastoral care activities.  In order to foster spiritual support and commitment, the Catholic Students’ Union of the College holds regular meetings on a fortnightly basis, and teachers and students are welcome to attend.

 

 

 

 

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Student activities are essential as a means to enrich campus life, develop a sense of belonging and promote interaction amongst students.  Most of the extracurricular activities are organized by the Students’ Union and its affiliated associations.  Societies of different Departments also organize their own activities which are related to their fields of study.  There are other interest clubs such as Drama Club and Sports Club.  Orientation Day and camps are respectively organized by the College and the Students’ Union at the beginning of each academic year to prepare new students for College life and study.  The Student Affairs Office always organizes a variety of student developmental activities to enhance students’ all-round development.
