Official Visit by Mrs Carrie Lam, JP,
Director-General of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London

The Director-General arrived at 6:05 pm and was greeted by WHKS Executive Committee and WHKS Career Promotion Team members to mark the first ever A.O. seminar to be held in the University of Warwick.

Mrs Lam, accompanied by Mr Howard Yam, the Assistant Director-General, was interviewed by JoJo Leung and Eric Leung in the interview room close to Physics Lecture Theatre, where the Talk on Administrative Officer was to be held.

At around 6:35pm, the convoy proceeded to the Physics Lecture Theatre. Mrs Lam and Mr Yam were well received by the Master of Ceremonies, Jose Wong and Prema Cheung. Over 120 Hong Kong Students in Warwick has attended the event.

The Director-General began her talk on Hong Kong recent development and future prospects immediately after the Welcoming Speech by our President, Hiram Chiu.

Before the closing message by Eric Leung, the Person-In-charge of CPT, Mrs Lam gave a talk on Administrative Officer Careers. Notwithstanding the fact that the talk allowed us to have a deeper insight about the life as an A.O, it provides us updates about A.O. application statistics and procedures.

The talks were followed by a Question & Answer section, which was, as many did, a unique and precious opportunity to getting a closer look at the recent political development in Hong Kong as well as that of A.O. careers.
The Audience, if not overjoyed by how Mrs Lam handled the questions in a humorous, yet down-to-ground approach, were impressed by her effective communication skills.

The event was drawn to an end with the presentation of Warwick souvenirs to Mrs Lam by the President and Vice-President of Warwick Hong Kong Society.

The Director-General and Assistant Director-General were esorted by representatives from WHKS Executive Committee and Career Promotion Team to Warwick Arts Centre, where she was driven back to London by her chauffeur after biding farewell to fellow students.
