ULS was formed on the 30th of March 2007 by three final year UNSW business students Ben Wong, Rosa Yoo and Biddie Yu. Initially Ben and Rosa had the idea of operating a storage and delivery system operating under the name BRB (Be Right Back) for those who worked in Sydney¡¦s central business district (CBD). Goods that had to be stored would be picked up and delivered by BRB to the nearest storage area and then be delivered back to the owner when requested. Revenue would be created by charging a fee on the delivery and storage of goods. Initially the idea was very exciting since such a unique service does not exist in Sydney, yet various challenges and difficulties were identified in the storage and delivery service. Problems included high set up, operating and marketing costs. The founders did not have access to many financial resources. Other complexities included the high costs involved in searching, employing and then training reliable and skilled personnel, the threat of theft and terrorism, logistical problems and difficulties in promoting and reaching the target market in Sydney¡¦s CBD.

Fortunately the idea of providing coin retaining locker system inside the UNSW library was established. The idea was generated because lockers are not freely available for UNSW students and numerous staff members. UNSW students and staff serve as the initial target audience.
