Connecting more than one adjective

(a) Sometimes we use more than one adjective to describe something or someone:

• Michael Jackson is a rich, famous singer.
• A tall, young Italian woman stood in the doorway.

(b) When adjectives come before the noun, it is often only necessary to put a comma between them. When they come after a verb and describe the subject, then we usually put 'and' before the last adjective:

• Michael Jackson is rich and famous.
• The woman in the doorway is tall, young and Italian.
